Puff the Magic Dragon

Jackie:
Are you a living sneeze, sir?

Sneeze:
What do I look like, a hiccup?

Jackie:
Can you bake a cherry pie, Very Long, Very Long/ Can you bake a cherry pie, Very Long John?

Pirate:
I can bake a cherry pie quick as a cat can wink its eye. Pumpkin, peach, and a half a dozen others.

Puff:
By the way, where's your fancy stuff?

Jackie:
What are you gonna do with us?

Pirate:
Have no fear. I'll think of something terrible.

Jackie:
What do we do, Puff?

Puff:
He said it: have no fear.

Jackie:
I'm scared to have no fear!

Short Doctor:
Of course, one could always hope for... a miracle.

Tall Doctor, Bald Doctor:
But we frown on that.

Pirate:
[has become a baker] I'm a new man! No no no no, I'm an old man with a NEW heart. Thanks to both of you, and God speed! I'll send you a fruitcake next Christmas!

Puff:
Now, I'm going to borrow the living thing inside you and place it INSIDE Jackie Paper. Your living thing. You wonder what it is? It is that what causes you to laugh and to cry and to care. It is that which makes apples crunchy and tells your nose to tingle on a crystal winter's morning. It's kept in your left ear, you know.

Puff:
I'm one of few dragons ever to have a song. That is because, instead of destroying things, I try to muddle through.

Jackie:
But why are you uncomfortable?

Sneeze:
Wouldn't you be too if you was nothing but a nose?

Puff:
Come along now. We'll build a boat.

Jackie:
I'm afraid.

Puff:
Well, isn't everybody?

Puff:
[attempting to return a fallen star to the sky, the boat fails to fly] Too heavy. We'll have to unload some ballast: me. [jumps into the water] Take her up.

Jackie:
Alone? I can't. I'm afraid.

Puff:
JACKIE! Believe in yourself. Have the courage to try. You may fail, but atleast you have made the effort.

Puff:
I adore eating my words, but your pies are even better.

Pirate:
Gotcha! Arr har har, you'll never get away!

Puff:
Now *that* is a pirate.

Tall Doctor:
Ahem, we have concluded our consultation, and being of one mind...

Short Doctor:
The best in all medicine, may we add.

Bald Doctor:
We have come to the conclusion that your son...

Tall Doctor:
Will not, nor can not...

Short Doctor:
Speak, communicate, nor indeed...

Bald Doctor:
Relate in any way to the world around him.

Jackie's Father:
But doctors, we know that. He hasn't said a word in such a long time.

Mother:
Can't you give us some hope that he will finally speak?

Tall Doctor:
Alas, the case is hopeless.

Puff:
His name is Jackie Draper. And don't worry, magnificent things are about to happen.
