Reading to Your Bunny

Mrs. Lapino:
Okay, class. It's time to put new leaves on our reading tree branches. Who has read a new book?

Martha:
I just a read a new book.

Mrs. Lapino:
Then you get to put one new leaf on your branch, Martha.

Roger:
I read two new books.

Mrs. Lapino:
Very good, Roger. You get two new leaves. Freddy, did you read a book? Freddy? [sounds of video game] Freddy?

Mrs. Lapino:
Don't you have any books at home, Freddy?

Freddy:
We have the telephone book.

Book Fairy:
I think Freddy needs a little help.

Mrs. Lapino:
And so do I.

Freddy's Mom:
There's the bell, Marge. It must be the pizza delivery bunny. Bye! [notices Book Fairy] Holy smokes, you're not the pizza delivery bunny!

Freddy's Dad:
Freddy wants more chips. Whoa! Who are you?

Freddy's Mom:
But why would Mrs. Lapino send us a book fairy?

Book Fairy:
Because books are just what Freddy needs. And someone to read to him twenty minutes a day.

Freddy's Dad:
And what's wrong with a little Game Bunny and TV, as long as it keeps Freddy quiet?

Book Fairy:
Maybe Freddy is a little *too* quiet.

Book Fairy:
Reading in a comfy chair is just like a little vacation.

Book Fairy:
Just read to your bunny and your bunny will read to you.

Freddy's Mom:
I guess we should start reading to Freddy.

Freddy's Dad:
Hmm. Mm-hmm.

Freddy's Dad:
Freddy can't wait to get into the reading chair, and neither can we. Who needs "Thursday Night Football" when I can cheer for the Little Engine?

Freddy:
