Destiny... The design is clearly ancient... Launched hundred of thousands of years ago.

Where the hell are we?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Several billion light years from home.

[to everyone] We are on a ship, but we have no idea where we are in relation to Earth.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
This ship could be the most important discovery Mankind has made since the stargate itself.

Everett Young:
[briefing Lt. General Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill] These are the wrong people, in the wrong place...

Matthew Scott:
[to Dr. Rush] We've got a lot of wounded. We need to get home.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[to Colonel Everett Young] We barely have enough power to operate the main systems. This ship simply doesn't have the capability to dial Earth.

Everyone thinks we're safe. They think that they'll never find us again.

Matthew Scott:
[to Alien] Why did you take one of our people prisoner?

Alien:
[restrained in Young's body, snarls and vocalizes gurglingly]

Chloe Armstrong:
We're not safe, are we.

Colonel David Telford:
[just revived] They're coming!

Everett Young:
Who's coming, David?

Colonel David Telford:
Lucian Alliance. They're coming to take Destiny.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
There is only one way this is gonna end if we wait.

Everett Young:
I'm not surrendering this ship.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
I may be on the verge of discovering the true nature of Destiny's mission.

Eli Wallace:
[outraged] You've had control of this ship the whole time! Why wouldn't you tell anyone?

Camile Wray:
The Lucian Alliance is planning an attack on Earth.

Everett Young:
I killed Riley. I suffocated him with my own hands.

Matthew Scott:
You are a good commander.

Everett Young:
There is no mission other than getting these people home.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
It was never about going home. It's about getting us to where we're going. That... is... the mission.

Matthew Scott:
[looking trough binoculars] Check it out!

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[takes binoculars] What is it?

Matthew Scott:
It's some kind of an animal.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
[with an enthusiastic voice] Is it something we can barbecue?

Curtis:
If that's even true!

Eli Wallace:
Found anything?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
"Destiny."

Eli Wallace:
As in, ours?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
The name of the ship translated from Ancient. I've also discovered that they were never here.

Eli Wallace:
Thought this was an Ancient ship.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
It is. But they sent it out unmanned, planning to use the gate to get here when it was far enough out into the universe. But they probably learned to Ascend before that time.

Eli Wallace:
Learned to what?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Ascension. It's a process whereby consciousness converts to energy and no longer requires a physical form.

Eli Wallace:
That wasn't in the video.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Well, there's more than one video.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
So how is it going out there? Really?

Colonel Everett Young:
Well, I don't know what Rush has told you. We may not have much time out there. The ship's very old, falling apart.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
Fix it.

Colonel Everett Young:
I'm trying. Even if we can get the life support working, we don't have much food and water.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
Well, go get some.

Colonel Everett Young:
We're not suppose to be there, sir. These are the wrong people, in the wrong place. And as a group, they're just not qualified.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
Oh, please. I wasn't qualified to lead that first team through the stargate.

Colonel Everett Young:
I understand that, sir.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
In the past dozen years or so, we've sent hundreds of teams through that thing. I think the bottom line is, none of us are qualified.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
[to Rush] Right now I pray to the God above that dehydration will shut you the hell up!

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
Walk! Or die here!

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[to Greer] Oh, well, it's *not* been a pleasure knowing you.

Eli Wallace:
[Greer hands Eli a gun] What do I need that for?

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
Just in case.

Eli Wallace:
"In case" what?

Colonel Everett Young:
What's going on?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[just returned from a sand planet] Oh, we've had lovely day at the beach. How about you?

Adam Brody:
We're not slowing down. We're on a collision course.

Colonel Everett Young:
Ready main weapon.

Eli Wallace:
We're gonna hit it.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
No, no, we're not going to hit it. We're going to dock with it.

[Destiny docks with the other ship]

Colonel Everett Young:
You got any more predictions?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Yeah. I suspect that very shortly, you'll be assembling a team to send over there.

Eli Wallace:
[the stargate has just dialed into a deserted, decrepit industrial city] Holy crap, we dialed Pittsburgh.

Everett Young:
Thing is, these people left for a reason. We don't know what.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
Have you ever been to Pittsburgh?

Vanessa James:
Hey! I was born there!

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
What kind of city doesn't have a gun shop?

Dr. Dale Volker:
Maybe they're Canadian.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
But I can tell you that fear, well, it's just one of those things in this world that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you're truly alive.

Sgt. Spencer:
What's going on, Eli?

Eli Wallace:
You mean right now?

Vanessa James:
Don't be an idiot.

Eli Wallace:
Wow, you must be getting to know me because I respond really well to that.

[Greer raises his sidearm at a dark shape hovering nearby]

Sgt. Hunter Riley:
[via kino] Whoa! Don't shoot! It's me!

Ronald Greer:
You can talk through that thing?

Sgt. Hunter Riley:
[via kino] Hey, I can talk through this thing.

Camile Wray:
Still, it's enough to loosen the rationing restrictions, isn't it?

Colonel Everett Young:
You know, I think I know where you're going with this, and believe me when i say that I, too, could use a shower.

Eli Wallace:
I don't think the showers use water. They just spray a sort of mist that you kinda stand in and it sort of beads up.

Lt. Matthew Scott:
How could you know all that if you haven't tried it?

Eli Wallace:
How do you know I haven't tried it?

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Oh! We know.

Eli Wallace:
Thank you, Lt. Rose Garden.

Chloe Armstrong:
Oh, he's right, you're worse than he is.

Colonel Everett Young:
Oh, you can tell them apart.

Colonel David Telford:
[in Colonel Young's body via the stones] I gave you a direct order, Lieutenant.

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Sir, I understand that you gave me a direct order, and I respectfully suggest that it would be a complete waste of time!

[a whoosh and Lt. Johansen notices Colonel Young's body language has suddenly changed]

Lt. Matthew Scott:
I'm telling you, this ship came here for a reason!

[an awkward pause]

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Sir?

Colonel Everett Young:
The ship came here for what reason?

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Colonel Young?

Colonel Everett Young:
Yeah, yeah. What the hell was Telford just ordering you to do?

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Use the communication stones to report that you need to be replaced.

Colonel Everett Young:
Well, he probably right about that. So, the ship... came here for what reason?

Everett Young:
So I got a head count, Lt. Johansen and Airman Dunning are unaccounted for so I think we can assume that they are on the other side.

Eli Wallace:
Of Course, Just because someone is on the other side doesn't necessarily mean they are, You know... On the other side

Matthew Scott:
Obviously Not

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
The Colonel's going to take back the ship. You don't have any idea what you're up against.

Chloe Armstrong:
I think we do.

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
Not a clue. Sorry, but a bunch of civilians up against the Colonel's training and experience?

Chloe Armstrong:
It's about listening to reason.

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
Not once you took this ship. That made it war. And that's what we do.

Ronald Greer:
So you're saying that this ship was never going to explode.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Oh no, we most definitely all would be dead had I not put certain limits in place. I also arranged for the alarms and warnings to go off regardless. A bit of theater, always nice.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Their plan was never going to work.

Matthew Scott:
You could have warned us. You scared the crap out of everybody.

Maryann Wallace:
Can I help you?

Eli Wallace:
My name is, Phillip. Phillip Fry.

Eli Wallace:
She's not going to understand. She can barely follow an episode of Star Trek.

[Destiny leaves FTL, disrupting the communication stones again]

Eli Wallace:
[suddenly in Control Room with Rush and Chloe] All right, this is ridiculous. Jumping back and forth without any warning is completely unac...

Eli Wallace:
[instantly back on Earth in Dr. Williams's body] -ceptable!

Eli Wallace:
[pause as he notices he's back and alone] Seriously?

Lt. Matthew Scott:
What if we were meant to stay there? All of us? What if that planet was our lifeline and we just let it go?

Colonel Everett Young:
I can't pretend to answer that, Matthew. No one can.

Everett Young:
I guess it would be easy to dwell on everything that we have lost, but I think today I would rather think about what we still have, and maybe what we've gained. We're a... we're family now, whether we like it or not. Sons, daughters, sisters, even the slightly crazy uncle who, despite everything, still manages to come through for you in the end. You are the smartest, bravest, most compassionate people that I have ever had the honor to serve with. To family.

Eli Wallace:
I'd like to go.

Chloe Armstrong:
Me too.

Eli Wallace:
Chloe has been studying all of Dr. Jackson's work.

Colonel Everett Young:
Really.

Lt. Matthew Scott:
You have?

Chloe Armstrong:
I have.

Eli Wallace:
Say something archaeological.

Chloe Armstrong:
Stratification.

Eli Wallace:
That's good.

Chloe Armstrong:
Thank you.

Eli Wallace:
Plus, didn't you say you studied ancient history?

Chloe Armstrong:
I did.

Eli Wallace:
At Harvard.

Colonel Everett Young:
Well, I don't see how that helps us billions of light-years from Earth, but I get it.

Eli Wallace:
Pretty sure we've established that this ship is no safer than any planet.

Chloe Armstrong:
Kidnapped by aliens, right here.

Colonel Everett Young:
I don't have a problem with either of you going; I never said I did. Just be careful.

Dr. Daniel Jackson:
Professor Rush? Professor Rush... Hi, I'm Dr. Daniel Jackson.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
So you are.

Dr. Daniel Jackson:
I'm sorry to accost you here. I dropped by your office and they told me that you hadn't come in for the day.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Do you know, I really don't have time for this.

Dr. Daniel Jackson:
Actually I think you're going to want to hear what I have to say. Is there someplace more private where we could talk?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
You're going to tell me about the stargate program. Your current dilemma - how to unlock the stargate's ninth and final chevron. Specifically, how much energy will be required.

Dr. Daniel Jackson:
How do you know that? Those details are highly classified.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
The project hasn't even been named yet, has it? How about 'Icarus'? I know because it's already happened, and you're just a figment of my imagination. Reliving all of this is just a necessary evil, an unfortunate side-effect to a process I can't control, and it keeps getting in the bloody way of what I need to do. You, the university, the clouds in the sky, all just a dream, a distant memory, and one I'd really rather went away.

Gloria Rush:
I've spent most of the last twenty years watching what I ate, denying myself the things I most love. And now, I could eat anything I want and nothing seems appealing.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[Briefly looking up from notebook] Yeah.

Gloria Rush:
Why are you here, Nick?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Because this is what happened.

Gloria Rush:
You have work to do; go do it.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
I am doing it. It doesn't seem to matter where I am.

Gloria Rush:
You have the chance to change so many things. The one thing you can't change is what's happening to me. Don't let that hold you back.

[Rush closes his notebook, stands and take's Gloria's hand]

Gloria Rush:
When the time comes I know you'll be there.

[Eli walks over to the display where the shuttle's position is plotted relative to Destiny]

Eli Wallace:
That's them.

Eli Wallace:
[pauses, realizes] Why am I watching this on TV?

[Eli runs out of the room and goes to join Chloe on the observation deck]

Colonel Everett Young:
[in good humor] I'm dead serious about it. That was like... that was the worst shuttle docking I've ever seen in my life.

Lt. Matthew Scott:
What are you talking about? I barely even dented it!

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
[laughing] The grinding noise!

Colonel Everett Young:
At the very least, there is a giant scrape along the bottom. I'm going to make you put on a space suit, go out there, fix it right *now*. Sergeant, we're going to need some of that high, high temperature spaceship paint for, uh, Scott here.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
Yes sir, I believe I've found some.

[Dr. Rush walks into the mess hall]

Colonel Everett Young:
Dr. Rush, have a seat. These two have even showered.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
No, thanks.

Colonel Everett Young:
Aw, come on, we should celebrate.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Celebrate what? That we're back where we started?

[Eli lowers and shakes his head]

Lt. Matthew Scott:
Aw, come on, have seat, Rush.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Some other time.

Colonel Everett Young:
All right, well, Becker, give him a double ration. He deserves it.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Why's that then?

Colonel Everett Young:
I'm in a good mood!

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
We're to be rewarded at your whim, then?

Colonel Everett Young:
No, no... just stop. What, you want- you want some reasons? I'll... I'll give you three. You were right about the power situation.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Not really.

Colonel Everett Young:
You figured out the subspace communications, how to call the shuttle.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
We needed to get those supplies back.

Colonel Everett Young:
You took your name out of the lottery.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
So did you.

Colonel Everett Young:
I was injured. You actually made a sacrifice.

[Dr. Rush shakes his head, looks Young silently in the eyes]

Colonel Everett Young:
[considers] Unless you knew... that Destiny was going to make it all along.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Cheers, everyone.

[Dr. Rush leaves the silent mess hall]

[last lines]

[On the implication left hanging in the air that Dr. Rush knew Destiny was in no danger and let the 15 risk their lives on the shuttle and possibly marooning them on an unknown, barely habitable planet, 13 by lottery plus Scott and Johansen]

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
Ah, let it go, sir.

[Greer chuckles]

Eli Wallace:
[dismissive] He didn't know. I-I-I saw his face.

Lt. Matthew Scott:
There's no way.

Eli Wallace:
No.

Colonel Everett Young:
What if he did?

[Pregnant pause. Scott looks down, Eli and Greer look up]

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
He's right, sir. Let it go.

Colonel Everett Young:
[shakes his head, mutters repeated line] A lot of work.

Colonel Everett Young:
There's a rumor spreading that we're still here.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
We are. Destiny needed all its power reserves to protect itself, and us.

Eli Wallace:
Uh, guys? We're *in* the star.

Colonel Everett Young:
That can't be right. We're talkin' thousands of degrees.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Well, we've just flown through the corona, which is even hotter, to say nothing of magnetic fields, gravitational stresses. This is what Destiny intended from the moment it entered this star system.

Colonel Everett Young:
You're telling me it flew into the sun on purpose?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Yes.

Colonel Everett Young:
Why?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
To replenish its reserves.

Colonel Everett Young:
You're telling me this ship...

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
The ship is powered by the stars themselves. Solar powered, quite literally. There is no other explanation.

Colonel Everett Young:
Hey, TJ. Listen, I'm sorry. One thing turned into another and the next thing you know a five minute update...

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
I'm pregnant.

Colonel Everett Young:
[long pause] You're pregnant.

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
[nods]

Colonel Everett Young:
Uh... how- how far along are you?

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
About 22 weeks. It's yours. Ours.

Colonel Everett Young:
A baby... on this ship.

Lt. Tamara Johansen:
I'm keeping it.

Colonel Everett Young:
I- I didn't say you shouldn't.

Matthew Scott:
[Looking through binoculars] Check it out!

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
[Takes binoculars] What is it?

Matthew Scott:
It's some kind of an animal.

Master Sgt. Ronald Greer:
[With an enthusiastic voice] Is it something we can barbecue?

Everett Young:
Eli, I want you to broadcast a message.

Eli Wallace:
In ancient?

Everett Young:
Ancient, English, Bat Signal, whatever else you've got.

[the ship jumps to FTL, temporarily breaking the communication stones' connection]

Camille Wray:
Does this mean you fixed the ship?

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
Camille?

Amanda Perry:
No, it's me again.

Eli Wallace:
Don't you hate that?

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
Everett, I'll have you know I'm missing a national security briefing for this.

Everett Young:
Sorry about that, sir.

Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill:
Well... If you'd ever been to a national security briefing you wouldn't say that.

Dr. Nicholas Rush:
For a moment there I thought we were in trouble

Sgt. Riley:
Yeah,I read about these chinese miners that survived a cave in for six days by drinking their urine.

Ronald Greer:
I'm gunna go ahead and pretend I didn't hear that.

Sgt. Riley:
You know what they ate? Coal.

Ronald Greer:
Coal?

Sgt. Riley:
Yeah, Thats a true story. I mean don't get me wrong it was pretty stupid. Nearly killed them.

Colonel Everett Young:
Water level's down again. You're sure nobody went near that compartment on your watch?

Sgt. Riley:
Spencer came by and asked if he could have a look at the tank.

Colonel Everett Young:
Why?

Sgt. Riley:
He's a crazy person... sir. Anyway, I said no.

Eli:
Well, this couldn't get much worse.

Dr. Rush:
I'm afraid that's a failure of imagination.
