Lt. Paul Wang:
Can you imagine if he was anything else? Like a plumber?

Lt. Paul Wang:
[imitating McQueen] Okay, listen up. This one's in the kitchen. I'm here to fix your faucet, so check your six. I'm gonna replace the strainer part, and I'm gonna replace the washer. It's gonna be a real knife fight. Now I'm gonna utilize a monkey wrench and perhaps even a plunger. And when I'm done, you'll have water. [McQueen enters] It'll be hot, and it'll be cold. And one more thing. [Wang flips table] It's okay to be scared.

Lt. Paul Wang:
[realizes McQueen is standing behind him] Sir, sir, it... It's the greatest form of flattery. Sir.

Felicity O:
Fate's a b*tch.

[Commodore Ross is briefing his pilots about Chiggy Von Richtofen]

Commodore Glen Van Ross:
Now hear this, CFB! This is Operation Red Baron! All our plans are on hold until this Chig dies! I want you to go out there, find this bastard, and you pile on!

[first lines]

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
[narration] We thought we were alone. We believed the universe was ours. Until one night in 2063, on a Earth colony 16 light-years away, they struck. Now we're at war. The dim glow falling upon the dried blood of Union brothers in the Manassas eve still guides our path. Constellations, hidden by fierce Pacific storms in the Bataan sky remain obscured by rain. The stars - a billion for every life laid down in Vietnam - still shine on us and will guide those who follow.

Lt. Cooper Hawkes:
What dead guy wrote that?

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
I wrote it.

Lt. Paul Wang:
[Wang is sacrificing himself to hold off the Chigs while the other marines rescue the POWs] Ooh-rah! Lieutenants Winslow, Jenkowitz, Woodiak, Nelson... This is for you!

Capt. Shane Vansen:
It's November 19th. Sunday back home. Sundays this time of year, I used to lay in bed and watch the morning football game. And then I'd go out when the sun was just... right. Golden. Autumn. I grew up in San Diego, and people say that there are no change of seasons in California, but... there are. I could always feel it. Always. There is just this... cold, inevitable edge in the air. The light, the colors... it's as if the Earth were letting you know that Summer was gone. There's no getting it back. Winter's coming and there's nothing that you can do to escape it. A lot of people say that they fall in love in the Spring. Not me. I always fell in love in Autumn. It is just the most... romantic... sexy... desperate... And I'll never see it again. This enemy could kill every last person on Earth and there would still be Autumn. But I'm going tomorrow morning to make sure that there is always someone there to feel it.

Lt. Vanessa Damphousse:
If this is a gift, you can have it back.

Sgt. Monk:
Call my wife... I don't mind goin' 'cept for her... She... she was my... my wife!

Commodore Glen Van Ross:
Who is that? Which squadron?

Communications Officer:
It's the 58th, sir! The Wild Cards!

Commodore Glen Van Ross:
Abandon All Hope my ass!

Major Cyril MacKendrick:
Lieutenant Hawkes, the entire time in His Majesty's Service, I was assigned as what you young Americans would call a 'pencil-pushing geek'. Supply, support. And every year, I would request a transfer to a unit that would taste the sting of battle, so that I might do my part to serve my country and my planet. And every year they turned me down. Eight months ago at the Battle of Mandrake Ridge, the Chigs hit our supply lines, and I finally felt... battle's sting. I saw men and women so dear to me so mutilated they were unrecognizable as human forms, let alone as people I loved. I'm sure *you* know. No, I don't like being alone, Mr. Hawkes. But it has offered me the chance to study our enemy - learn his tactics and some of his language to a degree I'm certain no human has achieved. And one day I will return with what I've learned here, alone, and that information will help defeat this horrific enemy that massacred my friends. But if I were to return now, they'd have me back on inventory of packaged food and blankets, while completing Forms 18, stroke, 79. And while I realize the vital importance of that role - it's not enough. For me, for those friends I've lost, it's not enough.

Sergeant Major Frank Bougus:
In space, no one can hear you scream, unless it is the war cry of the U.S. Marines!

Gunnery Sergeant Frank Bougus:
Your current orders are to take 48 hours' leave.

Lt. Nathan West:
Sir, ship us out, sir.

Capt. Shane Vansen:
Sir, why have we been on accelerated training if we're not going to be used, sir?

Gunnery Sergeant Frank Bougus:
Listen. All we know is what you people found last week. We have no idea what lies ahead. We know basically nothing about the enemy - numbers, weapons, tactics. That is why we have been LOSING and LOSING BADLY in every battle of this war! [quietly] Don't be in such a hurry.

Gunnery Sergeant Frank Bougus:
My advice: go home. See your families. It could be the last time.

Gunnery Sergeant Frank Bougus:
Until this war is over, the only easy day is yesterday!

Lt. Nathan West:
You're letting them throw away our lives. We believed in you!

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius 'T.C.' McQueen:
Now the only thing you can believe in is each other.

Mike 'Pags' Pagodin:
[extending his hand] Mike Pagodin.

Lt. Vanessa Damphousse:
Vanessa Damphousse.

Mike 'Pags' Pagodin:
Damphousse. Damphousse, is that, like, French for something?

Lt. Vanessa Damphousse:
Probably. But my friends just call me "damn fool".

Sergeant Major Frank Bougus:
I know that Tanks are lazy, and they don't care about anyone or anything.

Lt. Cooper Hawkes:
I won't let you down.

Sergeant Major Frank Bougus:
As part of your training, there is no commanding officer. You are on your own. From this moment until we win this war, the only easy day is yesterday.

Capt. Shane Vansen:
Don't. It could carry some kind of disease.

Lt. Cooper Hawkes:
I never had a mother, but you sound like one.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius 'T.C.' McQueen:
Courage, honor, dedication, sacrifice. These are just the words they used to get you here. Now the only word that means a damn to you is "life". Yours, your buddies.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius 'T.C.' McQueen:
That's when we teach them something every human knows - payback's a b*tch.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius 'T.C.' McQueen:
I've just been assigned as your squadron commander. And if you ever pull anything like what you did out there under my command, the only medal you'll be wearing are cuffs in the brig. [calmly walks away]

Lt. Paul Wang:
At least he doesn't yell.

Lt. Nathan West:
[narrating] Elsewhere, stars are born. Other star systems, older, larger, continue to breathe. The Solar System dies of crib death. If that's what it takes, then okay. If I must wait that long, then all right. Because when I think of this, nothing is more desirable than the hope of watching that last day, when the sun flickers out with you beside me. We'll sit alone on a dark chunk of ice at the top of the world, and the stars above, beyond, and between us [throws his valor medal] will never shine brighter as we drift away into space.

Colonial Governor Borman:

Lt. Vanessa Damphousse:
Saratoga, this is Demios. Request response to request for air cover. Situation deteriorating... Many units in retreat... Airfield in jeopardy of being taken. Many casualties, request response.

Lt. Price:
Demios, this is the Saratoga...

Commodore Glen van Ross:
[interrupts the LT to speak to the troops being left behind] Lieutenant. Marines, this is Commodore Ross of the USS Saratoga. We remain proud of you. Due to security reasons, I am unable to explain this painful directive. Due to the fortunes of war... Black Forest. I say again, Black Forest.

Capt. Shane Vansen:
[Vansen interprets the code] No air support.

Commodore Glen van Ross:
Red Sea. Red Sea...

Capt. Shane Vansen:
[Vansen interprets again] No ground reinforcement.

Commodore Glen van Ross:
You are encouraged, but not so ordered, to continue to engage the enemy. If, however, your positions become untenable, you are authorized to surrender. Semper Fidelis, and may God be with you always.

Commodore Glen Van Ross:
I'll be a son of a b*tch if I go to your funeral, Ty.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
Yes you would sir. But we'll talk about your mother when I get back.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
Looking darkly upon Hector, swift footed Achilles answered, 'I cannot forgive you. As there are no trustworthy oaths between men and lions, there can be no love between you and me. [Colonel McQueen is about to go kill Chiggy Von Richtofen, the enemies ace flyer]

Priest:
Colonel. Colonel! Colonel McQueen! Do you need to make peace with your maker.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
My maker was some geek in a lab coat with an eyedropper and a petri dish. What do I need to make peace with him for?

Priest:
In times of war we must all make peace with our maker.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius "TC" McQueen:
Well, I don't think our maker wants to hear from me right now. Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe. And when I get back, I'm going to drink a bottle of scotch as if it was Chiggy Von Richtofen's blood and celebrate his death.

Priest:
Amen.

Lt. Cooper Hawkes:

Lt. Shane Vansen:
They killed my family because a coin came up tails. They don't leave this rock.

Lt. Paul Wang:
[in low gravity watches thrown football disappear] I can't wait 'til this planet gets an expansion team.

Howard Sewell:
I can tell you what I know about you. You're not the farthest man from home.

Lt. Col. Tyrus Cassius 'T.C.' McQueen:
[about West's insubordination] I'll be damned if he takes the easy way and dies before I can get at him.
