Jane Falbury:
You really love this, don't you?

Joe D. Ross:
What? Show business? There's nothing else in the world.

Joe D. Ross:
We're trying to tell a story with music, and song, and dance. Well, not just with words. For instance, if the boy tells the girl that he loves her, he just doesn't say it, he sings it.

Jane Falbury:
Why doesn't he just say it?

Joe D. Ross:
Why? Oh, I don't know, but it's kind of nice.

Joe D. Ross:
And then they dance. A nice easy dance. It's a nice easy song.

Joe D. Ross:
When the show's over and it's the success I hope it is, we've got alot of talking to do.

Jane Falbury:
What about?

Joe D. Ross:
Oh, all kinds of things. First I want to hear the story of your life. Everything that's ever happened to you since you were so high. And then I want to know what you eat for breakfast, what's your favorite color, what comic strips you read. Then we'll talk about shoes, and ships, and sealing wax, and shows. Farms. Families. Oh it may take hours. Weeks. Years. I want to know everything.

Orville Wingait:
That actor! She's in love with that actor!

Joe D. Ross:
[walking away] See you next Thursday.

Jane Falbury:
It's a farm, Abigail!
