Targets

The 14th Target (1998) is one of 11 features based on the long-running adaptation of Gosho Aoyama's manga Meitantei Conan (Famous Detective Conan, a play off the Japanese title of Hayao Miyazaki's "Sherlock Hound"). Seventeen-year-old ace detective Jimmy Kudo remains trapped in the body of a little boy: To disguise his identity, he's taken the name of Conan Edogawa--from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Japanese mystery writer Ranpo Edogawa. As a mysterious series of assaults escalates, Conan realizes they're linked to playing cards, and that numbers determine the identity of the next target. It's only a matter of time before Jimmy's former girlfriend, Rachel Moore, and her dim-witted private investigator father get involved. The crime-fighters find themselves in an Agatha Christie-style situation with several potential victims and the murderer trapped in an unfinished amusement park. Viewers familiar with the series know Conan will solve the mystery; the fun is in how he does it. When Conan Edogawa is on the case, "One Truth Prevails!"
