The Following

The Following is an American television drama series created by Kevin Williamson, and jointly produced by Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. The first season follows former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) trying to help recapture serial killer Joe Carroll, while Carroll's assembled cult captures Carroll's son from his ex-wife and sends Carroll's messages to the world. The second season introduces Hardy's niece, who provides help in finding Carroll after his fake death while also dealing with a new cult. The series was broadcast on the commercial broadcast television network Fox. In its first two seasons, it starred Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy in leading roles, as well as Shawn Ashmore, Natalie Zea, and Valorie Curry. The first season, comprising 15 episodes, premiered on January 21, 2013, and concluded on April 29, 2013. On March 4, 2013, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on January 19, 2014, and concluded on April 28, 2014. The series' renewal for a third season was announced on March 7, 2014, and the season premiered on March 2, 2015. On May 8, 2015, Fox canceled The Following after three seasons. The final episode aired on May 18, 2015.

Dr. York:

I like to be surprised.

Dr. York:
If you refuse, the state chooses for you. You'll die by lethal injection.

Joe Caroll:
Awww. Spoiler alert!

Luke:
Welcome, gentlemen. I wanted you to see the room where it all began. This is where Mark and I planned everything. Mark thought there was no way you were getting out of that church, but I told him, "You have to have faith. Ryan Hardy and Joe Carroll, they're badass." Dinner's soon, so make yourself comfortable, get a drink... [Carroll picks up glass]

Ryan Hardy:
Hey! [Carroll sets glass down again]

Luke:
...and if you're worried about Claire, don't worry. She's with me.

Joe Carroll:
My big mistake last year was thinking way too small. No, Poe is never going to be the answer. No, more people are being killed in the name of religion than any other cause on Earth. Religion hides that violence in the language of peace. So... We are going to show the world the truth. Religion is not about love or charity - it is about blood, and sacrifice.

Joe Carroll:
Here. [grabs a bible and reads to Emma] Matthew 10:34. "Jesus said, 'Do not think I came to bring peace on Earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father and a daughter and some other'" [looks authoratively at Emma] If the good preacher wants a holy war, then... well, we'll give him one. And the whole world shall bear witness.

Emma Hill:
Okay then.

Joe Carroll:
Kingston, I am gonna offer you a choice. You can either pray to your God to save your son, or you can bow and pray to me. Which of us do you think has more power to save Preston's life?

Kingston Tanner:
Please don't kill my son.

Joe Carroll:
No, I'm gonna have to hear you say "God does not exist," and then throw in a "Praise Joe" for good measure.

Ryan Hardy:
I'm going to be really polite here and just say go to hell.

Micah:
There's good in the worst of us.

Julia:
And bad in the best of us.

Mike Weston:
