The High Cost of Living

Henry Welles:
Sometimes I wonder how I got to be this person. It's like, you have a version in your head of who you think you are. And then one day you realize, maybe you aren't that. Even though you think you're really kind, and good a heart... Really you're just the sum total of a bunch of bad decisions and stupid behavior.

Nathalie:
Henry, you are one of the kindest people I know, and no amount of stupidity could change that.

Nathalie:
[about playing hopscotch] This is ridiculous.

Henry Welles:
So is life.

Nathalie:
What do you do?

Henry Welles:
I'm a locksmith. Not technically, but sort of legally and linguistically challenged, so...

Henry Welles:
You think I'd be willing to spend the rest of my life in jail because of an accident? Don't give me that much credit, I'm not that big of a man. I came back because of you, I came back because I knew if I didn't stand in front of you and apologize I wouldn't ever be able to live with myself. Now I don't know if that's conscience or love, but I do know that I'm not going to jail for my conscience. I'm going to jail for you.

Nathalie:
That's not what I want. I don't want that.

Henry Welles:
I know, but... it's the only thing I can give you.

Nathalie:
Henry, I can't forgive you... Just can't...

Henry Welles:
No... I know, I'm not even asking you to. I just... I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry.
