The Killer Speaks

Levi King, convicted murderer:
[recalling teenage years] There's a particular instance I can remember where I went to my father's room, took an SKS out of the gun cabinet, and took a cat up the road and just started firing until there was really nothing left of that cat.

[describing King's childhood home]

Narrator:
The King family's house stood in stark isolation in the backwoods just outside of Pineville, Missouri.

There was no sewage. There was no electricity. There was no running water. Lots and lots of spent ammunition.

[after Levi King escapes from half-way house following parole from prison for burglarizing and burning neighbor's house]

Narrator:
King argues with his father, who quickly kicks him out of the house. Levi King is furious.

Levi King, convicted murderer:
This was where I was raised, and I wasn't welcome there. I wasn't good enough for him or the family. The fact that I was being rejected by them was probably really what set me off, I guess.

Killing animals and setting fires are two major red flags for something terrible to happen in the future.

My ma, she picked up the phone, and I looked at her - ah, she's not gonna call the police, so I kept stabbin' him; I didn't think nothing of it. She picked up the phone, and she called the police, and I was shocked - I was like, my own mother called the police on me.

[about killing Anna Bulchenko] She ran to the kitchen where she had like a wooden knife set, and I found the big knife, and I'm thinkin' "I can't get Yelena 'cause she's not here - might as well get her mother 'cause she's the closest person to her"... While I was stabbin' her, she said, you know, "I'll never tell you where my daughter is". I mean, she died in honor; she didn't die like a coward, you know.

Maksim Gelman, convicted murderer:
[about second carjacking] He was fightin'; he was kickin' me. I stabbed him. Tellin' the guy, "Get the **** out the car". He goes like "Slow down". I'm not goin' slow down... I'm doin' about 80 miles an hour. This guy opens the door, jumps out the car, he's like boom boom boom. [moves his hand in a circle] Does a bunch of front flips, back flips; I'm lookin' at this guy, I'm like, wow, this guy's insane.

Terry Blair, convicted serial killer:
[concerning after his arrest] They took me to police headquarters, and they put me in an isolation area of the jail. I asked one of the jailers that came around there why I was put in that area, and she stated, "They don't want you to see the news", and I asked her, I said, "What's on the news?", and she said, "You".
