John Riegert:
[ looking at a crowded street ] Just shove them out of the way

Dani Simionescu:
[incredulous] They're human beings, John, not sheep

John Riegert:
If you insist on splitting hairs.

Dani Simionescu:
I do, actually.

John Riegert:
[pause] That one looks like a sheep.

Ion:
[as Belial] Frankly I expected more of a scuffle; but, then again, you do have a lot of self-imposed limitations here. Hardly even makes a game of it.

John Riegert:
Don't worry. I think I can keep it interesting.

Ion:
I do hope so... for old times' sake.

Laurel:
[as Belial] Sorry I'm late. We had to stop for petrol and sweets. Ah, what a waste! You know, you really could have made more of this place. The evil that bred here? Such an opportunity, and you let it slip away. And now what have you got left? Just this poor, little head case, and a police officer who thinks he can buy salvation with the money he rips off from drug dealers. Really? And you wonder why I deserted you?

Dani Simionescu:
[on Serban's murder] I didn't do it, if that's what you're driving at, John. You see, I like to see their faces.

John Riegert:
You're acting rather cavalier for a man in your tenuous position.

Dani Simionescu:
That's f***ing it!

[pulls the car over]

Dani Simionescu:
Right, let's get one thing straight. I know when someone's trying to sweat me and, quite frankly, I don't f***ing like it; so, if you've got something to say, you say it to my f***ing face or you get the f*** out of my f***ing car.

John Riegert:
I believe you're guilty of nothing more than... a certain degree of moral ambivalence.

Laurel:
From here on, you need to understand something.

Hardy:
What?

Laurel:
You need to understand that, if you haven't stopped following me by the time I get to the top of these stairs, I'm going to have to put a bullet through your head.

Dani Simionescu:
Not again. I do wish you'd stop shoving things down your knickers, Serban. Makes me feel so cheap.

John Riegert:
Your mother didn't weep for you, Dani - not then - but she weeps for you now.

John Riegert:
[after a quick flashback to Dani's mother] You can hear it every time you close your eyes, can't you?

Dani Simionescu:
Tell me who you are.

John Riegert:
Are you sure that's what you really want?

John Riegert:
[first line in the movie] I am here to find one lost soul. I have no interest in tyrants or heros. Rather, I prefer the lives of smaller men, the ones left behind.

John Riegert:
He's lying. He can't touch you.

Allison:
How do I know that?

John Riegert:
Because this house - forgive the overused metaphor - is Hell on Earth. It was ceded to me by virtue of the deeds committed here, which makes it my domain. My house. My rules.

Allison:
What about you?

John Riegert:
I don't want the book. It repulses me. I'd much prefer you kept it.

Laurel:
[as Belial] Oh, brilliant. You're not even going for the win now? How pathetic. Great Satan himself and he's playing for the draw?

John Riegert:
There's always tomorrow, Belial.

John Riegert:
It's done. For now.

Allison:
Where is he?

John Riegert:
Belial? He's where he belongs. With Me. [looks up at sky] God created the world in seven days. This is the eighth. Remember, there are still so many out there that despise you. And your kind.

Allison:
Why?

John Riegert:
Because of what you are. And more than that, what you might yet become.

Allison:
What about you? Do you despise me?

Dani Simionescu:
So, who exactly are we looking for?

John Riegert:
The one you call Laurel.

Dani Simionescu:
How can you be so sure it's in him?

John Riegert:
He's the only one unaccounted for. Please don't make me do your job. I have enough to do already.

Simon:
Love the apron, Belial

Clara:
[as Belial] Do you like it? You should grab yourself a body, Simon. They're to die for, really. You eat, you f***, you kill, and then you go home and write poems all about it.

John Riegert:
[John arrives with Dani behind him] It was quite a party while it lasted, Allison. You really should have been there.

[Allison runs after the Lexicon after she inadvertently drop it]

John Riegert:
The regime fell almost overnight. No one was spared except you. You survived with your soul intact. Lucky, lucky you.

Allison:
Who are you? Why am I here?

John Riegert:
Oh, come on. I told you all this on the day you were born. Don't you remember?

Laurel:
You remember the first war? The big one. We stood on those ramparts long after we knew our cause was lost. Together we beat back Michael's hordes right down to the bitter end. When you fell, I fell. When you rose up in that lake of fire, I was right there by your side, still defiant, still proud, opposing God at every turn. I loved you, as my master - just as you once loved yours; but, along the way, the lines got blurred, didn't they? Well, there were no more rallying cries, no more odes of vindication, no more black, no more white. Just endless, endless shades of gray. What happened to you? Did you get tired... or just bored? Still, no matter. No problema.

Laurel:
[looks back at Allison holding the book] I'm here to fix all that with a little leg up from that book.

Laurel:
[Allison's eyes lock with Belial's, refusing to hand over the book] Now, look, I don't pretend to love you or your kind. All I'm offering you is a way to restore the balance again, to make it like it was when there were saints, Allison, and true demons, and you could actually tell one from the other. I just want it all to make sense again, nothing more - and all you have to do is give me that book.

Dani Simionescu:
Don't. Don't do it, Lucia.

Allison:
What are you? Another demon?

Laurel:
Close. He's your brother.

[Allison, shocked to hear this, reaches to touch the scar on her face]

Laurel:
Go ahead, touch the scar on your face. It might help you remember. Dear beloved Dani, who betrayed his own parents and yours to the Securitate and, in doing so, happened to condemn to a rather grisly death.

Dani Simionescu:
Lucia.

Allison:
Don't.

Dani Simionescu:
I am so, so sorry for what I did.

Allison:
I am not Lucia.

Dani Simionescu:
All I want... all I ever wanted is to be forgiven. Just that. Just to be... forgiven.

Allison:
My name is Allison, and I don't know you. I've never known you.

[walks away from all of them]

Laurel:
Oh, please. Don't get all dramatic on me. Just give me the book.

John Riegert:
That book is a weapon, Allison, for reasons that you could never grasp. Do not give it up.

Laurel:
[starting to get threatening] Well, let me put it another way: Just give me the book or I rip your heart out and feed it to those dogs outside.

[Dani's car stalls out]

John Riegert:
I don't suppose you engage in a LOT of high speed chases.

John Riegert:
Broken people make the best pawns, Dani.
