Rachel Zachary:
Ben, what did those Indians want?

Ben Zachary:
They offered to buy you for those five horses.

Rachel Zachary:
Well, did you sell me?

Ben Zachary:
Nope; held out for more horses.

[the family is trying to act normally while three Indians are waiting outside]

Cash Zachery:
Dammit, Ben. We can kill them before we eat breakfast.

Cash Zachary:
I've left my family. They've changed. Turned into Indian lovers; Injun lovers. I'm a little drunk, Georgia.

Georgia Rawlins:
C'mon, Cash. You can sleep it off in the barn. There's a nice bed in my room if you'll marry me.

Cash Zachary:
I might be drunk; but I ain't that drunk.

Lost Bird:

Ben Zachary:

Lost Bird:

Lost Bird:

Ben Zachary:
There are not enough horses in the world. Not as many as you can catch. Not as many as you can steal.

[the Zacharys are discussing the rumors about Rachel]

Cash:
It's out there, Ben. It's layin' on their stomachs and they don't know what to do.

Ben:
Well, it's still a lie and we've got nothin' to be ashamed of.

Cash:
What are we goin' to do when one of them says it? What are we goin' to do when one of them says it to Rachel?

Ben:
Kill 'em, I guess.

Cash:
That's all I wanted to hear.

[Charlie Rawlins has asked Ben for permission to marry Rachel]

Rachel:
Well, Ben; you ain't goin' to shoot Charlie now are you?

Ben:
I'm thinkin' about it. If I wasn't so short-handed I might.

[Ma Zachary has finally admitted to the family that Rachel really is a Kiowa]

Matilda Zachary:
Your Pa brought the little Indian baby to me and put her in my arms. My own girl child with yellow curls had just died; too young to even have a name. My breasts were hurting with all that milk. So I gave the baby her name, Rachel. Rachel, my sweet beautiful Kiowa baby.

[Cash advocates killing the Kiowa outside of the house]

Ben:
All right, Cash. Let's see if they're after our scalps first.

[shoots the top of one Indian's lance]

Ben:
I'm going out to talk. Cash, if they break the peace, kill them.

Cash:
When will that be?

Ben:
When they kill me.

[the Zachary's are trapped inside the house]

Andy Zachary:
The only thing I hate is I never got to go to Wichita and have me...

[pauses and looks at Ma]

Andy Zachary:

[yelling at a cow eating grass growing on the Zachary family's roof]

Rachel Zachary:
Shoo now! Shoo! Ain't you got no better manners than to eat at the top of a house?

Cash Zachary:
When the wind's in the right direction, I can smell Injun a mile off.

Ben Zachary:
Well, I hate to disappoint you, but that smell is comin' off of me. I haven't changed my dirt since Wichita, Kansas.

Rachel Zachary:
I could marry that handsome, winsome Charlie or that baby Jude. I could even marry you.

Ben Zachary:
Watch you language, girl.

Rachel Zachary:
Well, why not? We're not cousins. We're not even relatives.

Ben Zachary:

Cash Zachary:

Ben Zachary:
