They Live by Night
They Live by Night is a 1948 American film noir directed by Nicholas Ray (his first feature film) and starring Farley Granger as "Bowie" Bowers and Cathy O'Donnell as "Keechie" Mobley. It was based on Edward Anderson's Depression era novel Thieves Like Us.
Although the film is considered by many to be the prototype for the "couple on the run" genre, and is generally seen as the forerunner to the movie Bonnie and Clyde, the first telling of the story was actually the 1939 Persons in Hiding, based on the J. Edgar Hoover memoir of the same title.
Robert Altman directed a remake using the original title of the novel, Thieves Like Us (1974).

Cops or no cops I'm going through!
"We're in a Jam!"
Desperate... Hunted... Yet so in love! This is their story... The one the screaming headlines never told!
The headlines screamed their crime... but they told only half the story. Would YOU give these kids another chance?
"WE'RE IN A JAM! You're crazy to stick to me... but I'd rather die than let you go!"
