[narrating] She used to sit there for hours, watching westerns, waiting for someone to get shot, while I would be doing the dinner dishes. Later, I was allowed to come out, providing I was quiet. It was very boring. I would sit there hour after hour, night after night, staring at the back of her head and thinking of how much I hated her.
