[the repairman refuses to fix the TV now but offers to do it on Monday, because it is nearly Friday night and he is not allowed to drive his truck after sundown. Archie tries to persuade him to fix it now, but in vain]

Repairman:
I'm sorry. I just can't go against my religion.

Archie Bunker:
Hey, hey, turning down business - THAT'S against your religion.

Repairman:
Mr. Bunker, I can only answer that insult with an old Jewish expression: Tzun a leben in a hoyz mit a toyznt tsimers aye zolt hobn a boykhveytik un yeder tsimer.

[in Yiddish "may you live in a house with a thousand rooms, and get a stomachache in each room"]

Archie Bunker:
[puzzled] What the hell does that mean?

Repairman:
You'll never know, but believe me, I got even.

[the repairman leaves]
