Baz:
[stares baffled] What has happened to these trees?

Beta:
[approaches him coughing] Black rain, Baz. And it will kill *all* of us, if the oil-fires are not put out.

Baz:
Beta! I had no idea!

[notices the rain starting to fall as something else]

Baz:
Snow? But we are in the tropics!

Beta:
The smoke-clooud is changing our weather, Baz.

Baz:
No! I've been a fool. No traitor could harm our country more than our leader has!

[sags against a tree]

Beta:
Oh, Baz!

[puts her arm around him, they look up and gasp hearing soldiers approach]

Soldier:
Commander Morgar wants to see you, General. NOW!

[points to Beta]

Soldier:
And you, too.

Baz:
Forgive me, Beta, for coming to my senses too late.
