Taggart:
[shouting to be heard at town council meeting] I tell you that slavery is not against the law!

Daniel Boone:
[calmly] Well, some places it is, some places it isn't, and we've agreed - in this settlement, slavery is not welcome.

Taggart:
[scoffing] You've agreed? Is this agreement written down? Is it a law?

Daniel Boone:
It doesn't need writin'. Enough handshakes and it *is* the law in these parts.

Taggart:
[giving in] Alright, alright. If that's what the council wants, I'll abide - but let me point out that your agreement will keep us all poor for the rest of our lives.
