Brother Sam:
Lord have mercy, no car's ever totaled. Yeah, it's like a man's life, like a man's soul. I oughta know that. You know I once killed a man walked-off scot-free? For that I need to pay.

Dexter Morgan:
I'm surprised to hear you say that.

Brother Sam:
Don't be. The Spirit moves me to tell my story and share. I was facing death row, judge presiding over my case suddenly dropped dead.

Dexter Morgan:
Mistrial? Sounds like divine intervention.

Brother Sam:
Yeah. Well, God was playing me all right. I had to go out here and get good and high before He just said, son that's enough. An, uh, I got stopped. Possession charge, and go back to jail. But, hallelujah, praise God, that's how I got saved.

Dexter Morgan:
So that darkness inside is gone?

Brother Sam:
No. It's still there, but I'm fightin' his ass every day. I really don't have much of a choice. I sacrificed that bad part of my soul to make up for some of the pain I caused.
