[narrating] At the request of His Majesty's government, the Hudson's Bay Company had sold a large area of land near Fort Rowe to an organization of settlers. The Metis, of mixed French and Indian descent who considered themselves a separate people, were getting pretty tough and I, getting worried about the situation, sent that master spy, Pierre Falcon, to Fort Rowe to let me know what was happening.
