Loren:
[voiceover with view of Loren] My name is Loren; I'm 26 years old; I'm an alcoholic. [puts alcohol from box into glass via spout] When I get up, first thing I do is pour a drink because I have to have the alcohol in my system. [camera angle shows alcohol being poured from the angle of the bottom of the glass] This-This is breakfast of champions. [Christy smiles and laughs] I don't even like it anymore. But I know that if I don't get it into my system, I'm just going to sit there and shake and sweat and I can't stand the withdrawals. I can't stand it anymore. [titlecard: Lauren started drinking at the age of 12]

Don, stepfather:
She was just such a wonderful life force; just an incredible human being. And she still is an incredible human being; she's just very sick.

Loren:
I usually mix it with ginger ale. I do half and half. Like, we've been trying to cut down on the amount that we're drinking.

Christy:
If we didn't do half and half we'd be going through two boxes a day. [titlecard: Loren and her partner, Christy, drink up to five litres of wine a day] Bye. [kisses Lauren on the lips] Be good. [with dog outside] Ooo, ooh! Sadie, oh, easy, easy, easy, easy. Get in. [titlecard: Christy makes daily trips to the liquor store]

Sue, Loren's mother:
If they can live in their insular little world where the two of them work out this, this dance together, they don't have to do the work on themselves.

Christy:
Gives us something to do every day; we don't do much. We usually sit here all day. I usually sit and joke with the guy at the liquor store. [imitates] Oh, she's back for her box of wine. [chuckles as Loren drinks]
