I think her story is, of all those, oddly enough, the most interesting, It might have ended up being the most complicated which is why we've had difficulty dealing with it. You know, the Lulu one is two or three moves, the Cilla one is the big "Blind Date" move, the Sandie Shaw move is a little bit of The Smiths in the 80s. But she's probably a better singer than all of them. Her ability to interpret a song is better than any of them. She was around for a lot longer than they were before, she's done a lot more interesting things in a way after. She's made better albums as works of art than any of them. Petula's almost too complicated really to fit into the nice comfortable boxes that making the canon has ended up being. She became too restless, and we just haven't been able to deal with that.
