Esther Lane:
Just tell me that again, please.

Brian Lane:
I recorded Commander Embleton saying he was responsible for Anthony Kaye's death.

Esther Lane:
And you have since given that recording to Anthony Kaye's mother? I thought we were done with Embleton. I was *there* when you told him he wasn't worthy of your attention.

Brian Lane:
Mrs Kaye deserves to know the truth, Esther.

Esther Lane:
I'm not disputing that. What is she going to do with that recording? She's going to make one *hell* of a noise; I know I would.

Brian Lane:
I need to get to work. I'm late.

Esther Lane:
Yes, since you're just about to lose your job, I should make the most of it.

Brian Lane:
It might not come to that.

Esther Lane:
You know it will. [Brian starts to leave] How long have we got?

Brian Lane:
You make it sound like a death sentence.

Esther Lane:
I'll stand by you, Brian, whatever happens. Don't leave me in the dark again. No more surprises.
