Wild and wooly Wichita died hard. In the spring of 1876, Marshal Wyatt Earp believed the town was civilized at last. If he could get by one more cattle drive, the cowhands would move on to Dodge City, which was the new Gomorrah of the Plains. But Wyatt discounted too much the forces of cowhand hatred and vengeance. A lot of men who Wyatt had buffaloed or thrown into jail were determined to have one last fling in Wichita, come rain or snow.
