Capt. Briggs:
[V.O] November 1872. We were two weeks out of New York, bound for Genoa aboard the Mary Celeste. There were few experiences to tax the skills of an experienced shipmaster such as myself, Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs. My dear wife and daughter were enjoying the voyage, while the crew seemed content to go about their duties, showing admirable restraint in the matter of our cargo: seventeen-hundred full barrels of rum. By all appearances we were in for a calm trip, but appearances can be deceiving. I became aware of a strange undercurrent to the music. At first, I heard an unearthly sound, a deep trembling that seemed to emanate from the depths of the sea, an unrelenting sound that pierces the very soul itself. Above decks, a strange fog had enveloped us, a fog the likes of which I had never seen before. Soon the crew had ceased performing their allotted tasks. Even our trust first mate had fallen to the spell of the sound.

Capt. Briggs:
Return to your station, Mr. George!

Capt. Briggs:
[V.O] The sound became more and more intolerable. What was it? Where was it coming from? Why wouldn't it stop? [a green light appears in the water, stopping directly beneath the ship]

Capt. Briggs:
[panicking crewmen attempt to launch a dinghy] Stop! This is mutiny, mister! [the dinghy capsizes and another man jumps overboard]

Capt. Briggs:
[V.O] The unearthly light was upon us! My family and I retreated from this evil presence, taking refuge in our cabin, our sanctuary! There was no safety. It worked its way through windows, it washed over the decks and found us! It turned night into day!

The Briggses:
[the cabin door bursts open] No! No! No! NO!
