Lawyer Russell Spitzer: [Rollins has just delivered a very racist closing argument] Oh, yes. The little red ants are marching over here to colonize us. Isn't it just awful. Pearl Harbor? That kind of Japan-bashing is disgraceful. The fact is, Japan-bashing is a convenient way for us to avoid responsibility. Is it their fault their kids spend sixty days more a year in school than ours do? That their blue-collar workers can do algebra, while some of ours can't even read? We like to blame the Japanese for our problems, but the truth is, we've made 'em ourselves, right here at home. We've forgotten all the good old American values like excellence and hard work, and the Japanese remember them. Katsu used them to bring MicroLink into the global market. Bruce Fairchild, Page Lockhart and Donald Schwartz couldn't do that. When Katsu fired them, and replaced them with more gifted executives, the company became bigger, more profitable, it flourished! Merit, ladies and gentlemen. That's what we call this. That used to be the American way. You can prove it still is.
