[Jeremy is sitting on a chair, pushing the white oak stake into the palm of his hand when Elena comes in, causing him to look up at her and pull out the stake from his hand.] Elena: Hey, where have you been? [Notices her brother holding the stake] What are you doing with that? [Jeremy stands up.] Elena: Put it down. Jeremy: Connor was right. All I can think about is killing vampires. Elena: You're nothing like Connor. Jeremy: I want to believe that. And I know I don't wanna hurt you, but everything inside of me is telling me to drive this stake through your heart. Elena: Why would you say that? It's me, Jeremy. Jeremy: And you're a vampire. Elena: Yeah, but I'm also your sister. Jer– [Takes Jeremy's wrist] I would never do anything to hurt you. [Elena and Jeremy stare at each other, then Elena looks down at her brother's hand, prompting her to turn it over and see the blood on it, causing veins to start crawling towards her eyes.] Jeremy: [Seeing veins crawling towards Elena's eyes, fearfully] No. [As Elena looks up at Jeremy, the veins go away.] Elena: G-get it away from me. [Elena turns around, about to leave. Jeremy starts towards her, getting ready to stake her. Elena grabs his wrist and throws him down. Horrified, Elena kneels down next to her brother and starts to shake him, trying to wake him up.] Elena: Jer. Jer, hey. Jer, wake up. Jer, please wake up! [Jeremy opens his eyes and plunges the arm cuff stake into his sister's neck. Elena gasps and clutches her neck. Jeremy stands up, crouches down in front of her, and raises the stake.] Matt: [Comes in] Jeremy! Jeremy: Get out of here, Matt. Matt: Jeremy, you don't want to do this, okay? That's your sister. It's that stupid mark on your arm. Jeremy: [Enraged] SHUT UP, MATT! Matt: Jeremy, look at me! I'm human, and I'm telling you not to hurt her. [Jeremy hesitates for a moment, but looks as if he's still going to stake Elena. Stefan rushes in, grabbing Jeremy and pinning him against the wall.] Stefan: Get him out of here, Matt! [Pushes Jeremy towards Matt] Matt: Come on, let's get out of here. [As Matt takes Jeremy away, Stefan kneels down in front of Elena, who is trying to pull out the stake from her neck.] Stefan: Let me do it, let me do it, let me do it. [Stefan pulls out the stake from Elena's neck.]
