Jonathan:

Clark:
Maybe this is where it all starts. Remember what it said in the spaceship? "They're a flawed race. Rule them with strength."

Jonathan:
Son, I got into a lot of fights when I was your age too, believe me. But, Clark, these are not alien feelings. What you have to remember under these circumstances is that there are consequences.

Martha:
Your father's right. You don't make decisions in a split second that you have to live with for the rest of your life.

Jonathan:
Clark, it's true. We are a flawed race, sure. But we're a flawed race that raised you. You're a lot more human than you think.
