Lost, Season Six

Lost (2004-2010) is a television series, created by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, about the aftermath of a plane crash on a mysterious tropical island somewhere in the South Pacific.

Hurley:
Dude, whoever you are you better come out now. I've got a gun and I know how to use it...

[Hurley attempts to cock the gun, while behind him the undergrowth russles. Hurley watches as Jacob appears infront of him]

Jacob:
Hey Hugo. You got a minute?

[Jacob and Hurley walk back to the Dharma Van where a dying Sayid is still lying on the ground. Jacob bends down and examines Sayid while Hurley looks on]

Hurley:
Where you going dude? Whats going on? Why are you here? I mean you show up in LA, in the back of a cab and tell me to get on that plane that just so happens to get me back to the island. How did you know that would happen?

[Jacob remains silent, still looking over Sayid]

Hurley:
Dude you better start taling 'cause my friend Jin is going to be back any minute and He'll...

Jacob:
Your friend Jin won't be able to see me.

Hurley:
[Pause] Why not?

Jacob:
Because I died an hour ago.

Hurley:
Sorry dude. That sucks.

Jacob:
Thanks.

[Jacob stands and looks at Hurley]

Hurley:
You want me to do something crazy again don't you?

Jacob:
No. All I want you to do is save Sayid Hugo.

Hurley:
Well thats why I sent Jin to get Jack, so Jack can...

Jacob:
Jack cannot save him. You have to take Sayid to the temple, the rest of them should be safe there too.

Hurley:
The temple? Am I supposed to know where that is?

Jacob:
Jin knows. Ask him to take you to the hole in the wall where he was with the French team. Through that opening you can gain access to the temple.

[Hurley looks around for Jin returning]

Jacob:
Oh and Hugo, do you still have that Guitar Case I gave you?

Hurley:
Yeah...

Jacob:
Bring it!

[Hurley looks at Jacob, slightly confused by whats going on]

Hurley:
Who are you man?

Jacob:
I'm Jacob.

Locke:
What did you lose?

Jack:
Excuse me?

Locke:
They lost one of my bags. What about you?

Jack:
You wouldn't believe me if I told you.

Locke:
Try me.

Jack:
They lost my father.

Locke:
I'm sorry?

Jack:
He died a couple of days ago in Australia, and I flew down to get him.

Locke:
My condolences. [screaming to Oceanic employee handing him his lost luggage form] Yo!

Jack:
The coffin was supposed to go on the plane in Sydney, but it didn't. Apparently he is somewhere in transit, which is their way of saying that they have no idea where the hell he is.

Locke:
Well, how could they know?

Jack:
They're the ones who checked him in. I mean, they have to have some kind of tracking system.

Locke:
No, I'm not talking about the coffin. How could they know where he is? They didn't lose your father, they just lost his body. [Jack ponders this as Locke smiles at him] Either way, your story beats the hell out of mine. All that was in my suitcase was a bunch of knives.

Jack:
Some kind of salesman?

Locke:
Yeah, something like that. Well, it was nice talking to ya, but I hope you find that coffin.

Jack:
I hope you find your knives.

Locke:
Thanks.

Jack:
You mind if I ask what happened to you? I'm only asking because I'm a spinal surgeon. I didn't mean --

Locke:
No, don't worry about it. Surgery isn't going to do anything to help me. My condition is irreversible.

Jack:
Nothing is irreversible. [hands him his card] If you ever want a consult, just give me a call. It's on the house.

Locke:
Well thanks. [reads his card] Jack Shephard, I'm John, John Locke. [shakes Jack's hand]

Jack:
It's nice to meet you, John.

Locke:
It's nice to meet you, too.

[Having been captured Sawyer is lead onto Widmore's submarine and into a small room where Charles sits at a desk working on a document]

Charles Widmore:
Hello, Mr. Ford. My name is Charles Widmore.

[Widmore offers his hand to Sawyer but Sawyer does not shake it]

Charles Widmore:
I'm guessing you know who I am?

Sawyer:
Of course I do. You're the fella that sent a freighter to the island loaded with guys to kill us all.

[There is a brief pause and a smirk appears on Widmore's face]

Charles Widmore:
It's sad, really... how little you actually know.

Sawyer:
Well...I know you murdered all them people out there and dropped 'em in a ditch.

Charles Widmore:
We didn't murder those people. But I don't expect you to believe that.

Sawyer:
Good, I don't.

Charles Widmore:
So, why don't you tell me what brought you over to this island.

Sawyer:
John Locke sent me.

Charles Widmore:
John Locke's dead!

Sawyer:
I think we both know the guy I'm talking about's not really Locke. So here's the deal, Chief... I'll go back over there and tell him the coast is clear, that I didn't find anybody. Then I'll bring the old man right to your doorstep... then you can kill him.

[Once again Widmore's face reveals a hint of a smile]

Charles Widmore:
And what do you want in exchange, James?

Saywer:
One: The people I come back with, people on my boat don't get touched. Not even a hair on their head. And two: You give us safe passage off the Island.

Charles Widmore:
How do I know I can trust you?

Sawyer:
Same way I know I can trust you. So do we have an agreement?

[Widmore nods his head and extends his arm once again for Sawyer to shake. They shake hands.]

Charles Widmore:
Yes. I suppose we do.

Daniel:
Do you believe in love at first sight; Mr. Hume?

Desmond:
Excuse me?

Daniel:
The first time I saw her, I was walking through this museum a few weeks ago. She... she works here. She was on the lunch break. She was eating a chocolate bar. She has these incredible blue, blue eyes, red hair. And as soon as I saw her, right... right in that moment, it was like... it was like I already loved her. And that's when things got weird.

[Daniel search out in his bag and takes a book off]

Daniel:
That same night after I saw that woman... I woke up and I wrote this.

Desmond:
So what is it?

Daniel:
I'm a musician. I have no idea. So I took it to a friend of mine at Caltech. He's a math whiz. He said this is Quantum mechanics. He said these equations are so advanced that only someone who'd been studying physics their entire life could've come up with them.

Desmond:
So... so what do they mean?

Daniel:
Okay, imagine... imagine something terrible is about to happen, something catastrophic. And the only way to stop it from happening was by... releasing a huge amount of energy. Like setting off a nuclear bomb.

Desmond:
You wanna set off a nuclear bomb?

Daniel:
Just listen. What if this... all this... what if this wasn't supposed to be our life? What if we... we had some other life and for some reason, we changed things? I don't want to set off a nuclear bomb, Mr. Hume. I think I already did.

Desmond:
Listen, mate, um... I don't know what any of this has to do with me. So...

Daniel:
Why did you ask my mother about a woman named, Penny? It happened to you too, didn't it? You felt it.

Desmond:
I don't know... I don't know what I felt.

Daniel:
Yes, you do. You felt love.

Desmond:
That's impossible because I don't know anything about this woman. I don't know... I don't know where she is. I don't even know if she exist. She's... She's an idea.

Daniel:
No, Mr. Hume. She's my half-sister. And I can tell you exactly where and when you can find her.

[Jack and The Man in Black are meeting for the first time]

Jack:
You look just like him.

The Man in Black:
Does it bother you?

Jack:
No, what bothers me is I have no idea what the hell you are.

The Man in Black:
Sure you do.

Jack:
Why John Locke?

The Man in Black:
Because he was stupid enough to believe he had been brought here for a reason. Because he pursued that belief until it got him killed. And because you were kind enough to bring his body back here in a nice little wooden box.

Jack:
And he had to be dead before you could look like him?

The Man in Black:
That's right.

Jack:
And who else have you looked like?

The Man in Black:
Jack, what do you really want to ask me?

Jack:
Our third day here, I chased my father through the jungle, my dead father. Was that you?

The Man in Black:
Yes, that was me.

Jack:
Why?

The Man in Black:
You needed to find water. Jack, I know this must be hard for you to understand, but all I've ever tried to do is help you.

Jack:
To "help me?" To do what?

The Man in Black:
Leave! But because Jacob chose you you were trapped on this Island, before you even got here. Now Jacob's dead, we don't need to be trapped here. We can get on a plane and fly away anytime we want.

Jack:
If we could just get on a plane and fly away, why would you even still be here?

The Man in Black:
Because it has to be all of us.

[Jack still looks uncertain]

The Man in Black:
What?

Jack:
John Locke was the only one of us who ever believed in this place. He did everything he could to keep us from leaving this Island.

The Man in Black:
John Locke was not a believer, Jack. He was a sucker.

[Ben has given up Widmore and Zoe to the Man in Black]

Ben:
Sorry, Charles.

The Man in Black:
What a pleasant surprise. How nice to finally talk to you without those fences between us.[Looks to Zoe] And who might you be?

Zoe:
Zoe, my name is Zoe--

Widmore:
Don't talk to him. Don't say anything!

[The Man in Black interrupts by swiftly slitting Zoe's throat with his knife, she collapses in Widmore's arms dying]

Widmore:
Why would you do that?

The Man in Black:
You told her not to talk to me. That made her pointless. Now... Charles, it's clear you're not afraid to die. So there's only one way to motivate you to tell me what I want to know. Soon this will all be over. I'll get what I want. And I'll finally leave this Island. And when I do, the first thing I'm gonna do is kill your daughter. Penny.

Widmore:
You'll kill her whether I talk to you or not.

The Man in Black:
No, I won't. I give you my word.

Widmore:
And I'm supposed to just take your word?

The Man in Black:
You tell me why you came back here and I will not hurt your daughter.

Widmore:
I brought Desmond Hume back here because of his unique resistance to electromagnetism. He was a measure of last resort.

The Man in Black:
What do you mean "last resort?"

Widmore:
[Looks at Ben] I'm not saying any more in front of him.

The Man in Black:
Well than whisper to me.

[Widmore whispers in MIB's ear, before he is shot several times by Ben, killing him]

Ben:
He doesn't get to save his daughter.

The Man in Black:
Ben...You never cease to amaze me. Fortunately, he already told me what I needed to know. So, no harm done.

Ben:
Good...Did you say there were some other people to kill?

Kate:
So you're the one who wrote our names on the wall?

Jacob:
I am.

Kate:
Sun and Jin Kwon and Sayid Jarrah. You wrote their names on the wall?

Jacob:
Yes,

Kate:
Is that why they're dead?

Jacob:
I'm very sorry.

Kate:
You're sorry?

Hurley:
Kate...

Kate:
No, I wanna know why. I wanna know that Sun and Jin and Sayid didn't die for nothing.

Jacob:
...Come and sit down and I will tell you what they died for. I'll tell you why I chose them. And why I chose you. And I'll tell you everything you need to know about protecting this Island, because by the time that fire burns out, one of you is gonna have to start doing it. [The group gathers around] I don't really know where to start.

Hurley:
How about why you brought us to the Island.

Jacob:
I brought all of you here because I made a mistake. A mistake I made a very long time ago, and now, because of that there's a very good chance every single one of you and everyone you've ever cared about is going to die.

Sawyer:
What mistake?

Jacob:
You call him "The Monster." But I'm responsible for what happened to him. I made him that way. And ever since then he's been trying to kill me. It was only a matter of time before he figured out how, and when he did, someone would have to replace me. And that's why I brought you all here.

Sawyer:
Tell me something, Jacob. Why do I gotta be punished for your mistake? What made you think you could mess with my life? I was doing just fine until you dragged my ass to this rock.

Jacob:
No you weren't. None of you were. I didn't pluck any of you out of some happy existence. You were all flawed. I chose you because you were all like me. You were all alone. You were all looking for something you couldn't find out there. I chose you because you needed this place as much as it needed you.

Kate:
Why did you cross my name off of your wall?

Jacob:
Because you became a mother. It's just a line of chalk in a cave. The job is yours if you want it, Kate.

Jack:
What is the job?

Jacob:
There's a light at the center of this Island. You have to make sure it never goes out. That's how you protect it.

Sawyer:
Your monster friend said there's nothing to protect it from.

Jacob:
You have to protect it from him. You must do what I couldn't. What I wasn't able to do.

Jack:
You want us to kill him. Is that even possible?

Jacob:
I hope so, because he is certainly going to try to kill you.

Hurley:
So...how are you gonna pick?

Jacob:
I'm not going to pick, Hugo. I'm going to give you the one thing I was never given. A choice.

Kate:
And if none of us chooses?

Jacob:
Then this ends very badly.

[There is a pause as everyone looks at one another]

Jack:
I'll do it. This is why I'm here. This is...this is what I'm supposed to do.

Jacob:
Is that a question, Jack?

Jack:
...No,

Jacob:
Good, then it's time.
