Joyce Hacker:

Liz Dougherty:
[after Jessica exposes her as the murderer] I didn't have any idea that Danny was still alive, or that Ben would show up. But I knew I had to get my hands on that file, and I had to get it out of Danny's computer. It was still downloading what Yoshinaga was sending and I was copying it onto the disk when I heard Ben's truck. I hoped he wouldn't see me, but when he came in and headed for the computer, I had no choice. I had to make certain that no one would ever be able to access Danny's computer.

Jeff Kinkaid:
Liz...

Liz Dougherty:
I did it for you. You know that, don't you? It's what we wanted, together. But I guess, when it came down to it, I wanted it more than you.

Alexis Hill:
[after Jessica exposes her as the murderer] Do you have any idea what it's like to wake up every morning wondering if this'll be the day they finally realize you have no talent? They were good, Freddie's diaries. They were beautiful. The stuff real journalism is made of. Murrow, Kuralt, Pyle. Writing I'd never be capable of in a thousand years. And what good was that going to do for a John Doe in Potter's Field?

Denise Naveau:
[after Jessica exposes her as the murderer] I smuggled for Edmond for several years. Usually it was one or two stones at a time, but now, he needed money badly for this venture with Madame Vaughn. So he wanted me to move all of these stones all at once. I was taking an enormous risk. He was using me, and he would continue to use me. So, when the opportunity came to acquire the gun, I took it. After the rehearsal, I called Edmond. He said that he would meet me and give me the jewels. We agreed on a time. I waited for him to come out of his apartment and get into his car. And then I shot him. I knew who he dealt with in New York. No questions would be asked. I would have all the money, not just the fee. I took the jewels and hurried back here before anyone missed me. With those, I thought perhaps I could enjoy my life again.

Paul Vaughn:
Weren't you enjoying life, Denise?

Denise:
Come to think of it, I suppose I was.
