44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out

Henry Jones:
Ramon, I want you to have this.

Ramon:
What is it?

Henry Jones:
It's a bible, Ramon

Ramon:
What do you want me to do with a bible?

Henry Jones:
I want you to read it, Ramon

Ramon:
Which part?

Henry Jones:
Whatever part speaks to you.

Henry Jones:
Luck is preparation meets opportunity.

Donnie Anderson:
Do you get scared? Yeah. You stay scared? Better not.

Emil Matasareanu:
Holy sh*t, there's a lot of them out there.

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
[Points to AK-47] We've got these.

Emil Matasareanu:
Right, right.

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
They've got nothing but their little d*cks in their hands...

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
[taunting a cop] Want some?

Emil Matasareanu:
Larry! Get in the car!

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
Stick to the plan. You drive, I cover. Kill the cops.

Bobby Martinez:
[shooting at Phillips] I'm hitting them, but they're not going down!

Harris:
They've got Kevlar! Head shots!

Bobby Martinez:
Aim for the head!

Harris:
Aim high!

Donnie Anderson:
We're supposed to have the firepower, but they had the firepower that day. But we had the willpower. You know what? I'll take willpower over firepower any day.

SWAT Lieutenant:
I did two tours of Vietnam, and there is two things you don't forget. Your number of days in and the sound of a Chinese-made AK-47 machine gun, now these guys were slinging AK's and I was carrying a 9mm Baretta. [chuckles] I was in the wrong place with the wrong gun.

Frank McGregor:
Ninety percent of cops go through their whole career without ever firing their gun. That day, that was roughly 1500 rounds fired. We were armed with pistols. These guys were slinging automatic machine guns. An AK-47 machine gun is a weapon that was designed for war. A high-velocity round invented to penetrate armor and kill their target. You use them in a bank job, and you've done something no one in America had ever done before. Danger's all around us. In the streets. In the car. Maybe even the guy next door.

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
Hey, did you see that? Porsche 911. Oh, I love those.

Emil Matasareanu:
I hate the Germans.

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
You're from Romania. That practically makes you a German!

Emil Matasareanu:
I'm an American! I like Corvettes and Mostons!

Larry Eugene Phillips Jr.:
If you're going for horsepower and good looks, there's nothing wrong with that.

Frank McGregor:
RHD. Robbery-Homicide Division. We're the best of the best, and we get all the high-profile cases. L.A. Confidential. Al Pacino in Heat. Joe Friday and all that. The only difference is, those guys don't have to juggle 75 cases all at once. Me, I've got to prioritize. Back in '95, my priority was them. We had a name for them. We called them the "High-Incident Bandits". Chatsworth. Two years prior. These guys decided to make an early withdrawl. They killed the guard, executed him. Ambushed him. Took his head off with an AK-47. That kind of firepower in a bank job is unheard of. These guys were an anomaly. I made a promise to that widow that I wouldn't quit until I caught up with the sons of b*tches that killed her husband. We make promises like that all the time in my kind of work. We like to think that we mean it. That time I really meant it. Six months later, another armored car. Then, two more banks. Takeover-style. The most dangerous kind. They got away with over two million dollars. I guess they wanted to live the good life and they wanted to live it pretty fast. Instead of getting a job like the rest of us. Anyway, they disappeared into the wind one day, but I knew they'd be back.
