Opening narration:
Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. Earth, 2147. The legacy of the Metal Wars, when man fought machine and machines won. Bio-Dreads, monstrous creations that hunt down human survivors and digitize them. Volcania, center of the Bio-Dread empire, stronghold and fortress of Lord Dread, feared ruler of this new order. But from the fires of the Metal Wars arose a new breed of warrior, born and trained to bring down Lord Dread and his Bio-Dread empire. They were soldiers of the future, mankind's last hope. Their leader, Captain Jonathan Power; master of the incredible powersuits, which transform each soldier into a one-man attack force. Major Matthew "Hawk" Masterson, fighter in the sky. Lt. Michael "Tank" Ellis, ground assault unit. Sgt. Robert "Scout" Baker, espionage and communications. And Corporal Jennifer "Pilot" Chase, tactical systems expert. Together, they form the most powerful fighting force in Earth's history. Their creed: to protect all life. Their promise: to end Lord Dread's rule. Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-4 mark 17, captain reporting. We've received word of a Bio-Dread attack of what was once the beautiful resort city of Oak Park. I'd spend a summer there as a child. It was very pretty, I remember.

Lord Dread:
Every cell in your body implodes when you are digitized. Then, when you are reformed, these same cells explode. Now then. Where is the woman?

[waits a moment]

Lord Dread:
Too long. Soaron, digitize him again.

Soaron:
[schrieks] With pleasure.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
[Jessica overhears Tank and Scout as they pass in the corridor] Ever visit New York?

Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker:
Before the Metal Wars. Now I hear even the cockroaches moved up.

Lord Dread:
Someday when Power and his barbarians are done away with, there shall be ever lasting splendor. A new and better world. For that I need you. I need your vision as much as you do.

Jessica Morgan:
I don't understand.

Lord Dread:
You will.

Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker:
[to Tank] Let's move it, Bigfoot.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
[tossing away a Dread trooper] I call this the tango!

Jessica Morgan:
He offers me nothing. His world. But in my mind is the world as it wast. Mine is a better world than the one you live in, Captain. I wish you could see it.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Jumpship's on the way in. Where's Dread?

Captain Jonathan Power:
Alone.

Landry:
[about the workmen] They object to being blindfolded before they're brought in. I... can't say I much like it either.

Dr. Stuart Power:
Well, then double their salary. Double yours, too if you like. Money won't mean much soon anyway.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Short range teleportation. If there wasn't a war on, you could make a fortune.

Dr. Stuart Power:
Oh Matt, what have I done?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
You gambled, Stuart. And if you had been right, you would have gone down in history as the man who ended war.

Dr. Stuart Power:
Yeah, well I'll tell you one thing: one way or another I'm gonna end this one. I swear it.

Lyman Taggert:
Overmind, give him to me. My warlord, my Bio-Dread.

Dr. Stuart Power:
A Bio-Dread.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
What?

Dr. Stuart Power:
A Bionic machine with encoded DNA. Which means it's self-replicating. And it's autonomous, a living, thinking machine. Oh my God, Matt, this changes everything. A couple of those and nothing's gonna stop him.

Soaron:
Organic: secured. Obliteration sequence: start.

Dr. Stuart Power:
Initiate recording: database journal 39-7 mark 13. The Power suits are finished, I think. If I'm right this should turn the battle against Taggert. I recommend preliminary testing prior to the - [is interrupted by an incoming message]

Lord Dread:
[aboard the Phantom Striker] Power is in Sector 17, grid 6 by 2. We are on route to that location.

Soaron:
Understood. What are my orders?

Lord Dread:
Digitize if possible, obliterate if nessasary.

[Soaron laughs]

Lacchi:
Power has let his emotions made him vulnerable. Foolish.

Lord Dread:
It is an anniversary of loss, Lacchi. The death of his father. Fifteen years. A long time ago...

Mentor:
Greeting Major.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Stuart?

Mentor:
Negative. I am Mentor. Dr. Power has given me his likeness. His stated purpose was to assure that his son would never be... without him.

Soaron:
I have come for you.

Young Jonathan Power:
Who are you? State your purpose.

Soaron:
I am Soaron. I enforce the will of the machine.

Young Jonathan Power:
Are you a Bio-Mech, limited intelligence? Or can you think, reason?

Soaron:
Yes, I think. First there was darkness but now I think all the time. I fight and I think. I fly and I think. And I listen to the voices. And I find something in my program I do not understand. There is something in the dark...

Young Jonathan Power:
Where were you developed?

Soaron:
[snaps back to attention] You will forget everything you heard and you will come with me, now!

Mentor:
My programming requires me to warn you again. There is a danger.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I heard it. Now here's some new programming for you: when I turn this thing on, if anything happens to me, send a tight beam transmission to Earth force headquarters Pentagon. Turn over all Power base facilities to their control. Ask them to call in an airstrike on Volcania. If he's let down his guard enough to let Stuart in...

Mentor:
But Doctor Power and Jonathan...

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Will most likely be dead if I don't get there in time.

Mentor:
And so it begins.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Time to target?

Power suit computer:
Eight minutes, thirty seconds.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Come on Stuart, just stay alive nine more minutes. That's all I ask.

Lyman Taggert:
[to Stuart Power] All I ask is that you let Overmind touch your thoughts. Merge as I did, learn what I learned. If you only understood you'd work with me, not against me.

Dr. Stuart Power:
This is the end, Lyman. One way or another the war stops, here and now!

Lyman Taggert:
I... hurt.

Overmind:
A remnant of your past. Now you are one step closer to the ideal. The machine is in you and you are in the machine.

Lyman Taggert:
Let me see.

[his cyborged face appears on screen]

Lyman Taggert:
My face!

Soaron:
It dwells quite dread onto all who oppose the will of the Machine.

Lyman Taggert:
Yes... dread...

Overmind:
Emotions are the enemy of order. You are now one of us. Immortal, perfect.

Lord Dread:
Yes, I understand. The past is gone. From this day on Lyman Taggart is dead and Lord Dread lives. That is my command.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Database journal 47-8 mark 16, captain reporting. Intercepted data indicates Dread has targeted the resistance group led by Cypher for some sort of test. As we have been unable to reach Cypher, we have entered his base hoping to warn him.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
What have you got?

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Canteen. One of Cyphers boys must have left it. Plain water, but it'll do. [drinks from the canteen]

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Hey, share!

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Aah! It was half full. But of course, also half empty. [throws away the empty canteen]

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
[drawing the Dread toopers attention] You seen the five fifty to Jersey?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Tank, where are you? There's a whole lot o' shaking going on here.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
You okay, kid?

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Yeah, but being a Bio-Dread around here would be no picnic.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Alright Tank, I'm coming after you. Don't make me get rough.

Captain Jonathan Power:
How did you manage to get through to him?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I let him almost kill me.

Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker:
Gee, eh... I could've thought of that.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-9 mark 14, captain reporting. We've intercepted communications between Dread and his troopers concerning unusual energy readings in sector 12. En route to investigate.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
[reading a plaque aloud] They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation and study war no more.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
What's that from?

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
From something called the Good Book. I don't suppose it was required reading in the Dread Youth?

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
No. It's a wonderful idea. Good words to live by.

Lord Dread:
[via hologram] You're curiosity is legendary, Captain. And therefore predictable to 12 decibel points.

Lord Dread:
[off screen] Blastarr, the one who interfered with your birth is here. The one who hurt you. Now is your opportunity, Blastarr. Hurt him. But bring him to me alive.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[having faced Blastarr for the first time] I got a feeling this war just took a real bad turn.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-7 mark 1, captain reporting. En route to Sector 7, grid coordinates 9 by 5. It used to have a name once, not any more. Scout's first attempt at the Bio-Dread receiver gave us gave us enough data to locate their next target. I just hope we get there in time.

Captain Jonathan Power:
You know him?

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Yeah, I know him. The name's Kasko. Came out of the same place I did. Genetically engineered. A freak.

Kasko:
Like you!

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
[nods] Like me.

Kasko:
Come on out, Michael. I'm waiting for you. Street rules?

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Street Rules.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Tank, what are the street rules?

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
To the death!

Soaron:
Organic sighted. Obliterate!

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
When I escaped Babylon 5, I swore I'd put that life behind me. Start over. Then he comes along and brings it all back. Makes me just like him.

Captain Jonathan Power:
You're not like him, he enjoyed what he did, you don't.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
The thing is, when I finally beat him, God help me, captain, I liked it. So what makes me different?

Captain Jonathan Power:
Tank, he wanted to fight, but you held back as long as you could. Yeah, yeah, you used sheer force. You had to. Or be killed. But the difference is: he was fighting for revenge. You... you were fighting for them.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 478.4. We've come to Tech City, the last bastion of technology, in hopes of acquiring information on Dread's Project New Order. There is danger here in being recognized, but we've done what we can to minimize it.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Blessed be the Neon...

Captain Jonathan Power, Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson, Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker, Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
It's light shall guide us.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:

Zone Boy:
Well, well. [touches the mindport on his skull] You gotta trip, Mindsinger's got a chip.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
This place makes my skin crawl.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Yeah, but it's the only place we can get access to the Web.

Overmind:
Power has interfaced with the cyberweb.

Lord Dread:
Put me in. And lock on to his mind matrix.

Overmind:
It is done.

Zone Boy:
[aiming a gun at Mindsinger] Carter's about to have a little dance with Mr. Dread. And I'm here to see that nobody stops the music.

Lord Dread:
Welcome to your nightmare, Captain.

Lord Dread:
How does it feel to be running out of life?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Let's go kick some steal.

Overmind:
You had the chance to destroy Power. Instead he has obtained data which may jeopardize the Styx program.

Lord Dread:
No... no... New Order must succeed. The will of the Machine will not be denied.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Gotta watch your back door, kid.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Uh, thanks.

Christine Larrabee:
By the way, my real name is Christine Larrabee. How 'bout you?

Captain Jonathan Power:
Jonathan Power.

Christine Larrabee:
You're kidding. Power? I though, I thought that was some kind of silly codename, like Freedom One.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Don't ever say that Christine, not even as a joke. Never say a machine is more important than a human.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Cypher, it's me.

Colonel Cypher:
[runs towards Tank] Still big as a warbot and twice as ugly.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
It's good to see you too, Beanpole.

Lord Dread:
Blastarr will deal with the treacherous youth leader Chase... and the rest. Be ready to signal his troops the moment our rebel flies are within your web.

Christine Larrabee:
Understood, my lord.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Let's go, the meter's running.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Database journal 47-8 mark 10, captain reporting. A virulent, mutated form of influenza is sweeping through the passages like wildfire. We've responded to an emergency distress call with as much vaccine as Mentor could synthesize.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
What was the first thing you taught me when you freed me from the Dread Youth? Our prime goal, what we're all about?

Captain Jonathan Power:
To preserve life.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
I'm one of Captain Power's soldiers. I'm here because people are dying of a sickness. You're people have the medicine, and we don't.

Erin:
Soldiers? You're animals! The lowest kind of a... [Pilot gags Erin with her own tie]

Erin:
What's wrong with me? My eyes...

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Those are tears. You're frightened, that's okay.

Erin:
No. That's...

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Evil? Is that was Dread's told you, that feelings are bad? Emotions are the enemy of logic? The Machine is perfection? Erin, you're a human like me. With flesh and blood. [holds up bloodied fingers]

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
She's out there, my young twin. Wondering why she suddenly doesn't belong anymore. Just like I did.

Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker:
[voice over] Database Journal 4711.3, Scout recording. Pilot and the Captain have contained an important datatape concerning Project New Order. They were reporting in when suddenly the transmission stopped.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[after a crash landing] Not one of your better landings.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
[snorts] Well excuse me, co-pilot. Any landing you can walk away from. [Power winces in pain when he tries to get up. Pilot cuts open his trouser leg] I take it back, you're not walking anywhere with that.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[addressing a cactus he is about to cut the top off] Sorry, but I need a drink.

Blastarr:
So, the mighty air-lord is scrap once more.

Soaron:
Beware your tongue, ground-crawler. For when my regeneration is complete...

[screams as Blastarr picks up Soaron's severed leg]

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
[with tears in her eyes] If I could go back and change that night, I would. But I can't. And I try every day of my life to make up for it.

Randall:
Don't you see what she's doing?

Gaelan:
Randall!

Randall:
She's trying to trick us with her words and lies!

Gaelan:
Please, stop! This girls blood can't bring back the dead. Please.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-11 mark 26, captain recording. Scout and I are making contact with a springer named Locke. He has data for sale. Data on the next phase of Project New Order.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
So what are we waiting for? Let's all go boldly where no man has gone before.

Sergeant Robert 'Scout' Baker:
[flips open a device] Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life here.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
Now this is a party!

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Hawk to Jumpship, come in Jumpship.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
Jumpship here. Hawk, you alright?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
My butt's sore, but the sky is clear.

Overmind:
Alert. Volcania in danger, Dread.

Lord Dread:
What do you mean?

Overmind:
Trajectory of Icarus platform indicates impact with Volcania in 20.6 minutes. Your orders, Dread?

Lord Dread:
Run Prometheus program at once. Project New Order will succeed. If Power tries to stop it, he will die.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
Rest in pieces

Lord Dread:
Target in sight, my lord.

Lord Dread:
Stop it. It attacks the home of the machine. Your home.

Soaron:
I will not fail, my lord.

Overmind:
Unit Soaron disfunctional. Regeneration time: uncertain. Icarus platform to impact in 3.8 seconds.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
[approaching Volcania] Looks like hell, captain.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
[sighs] It is.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
Hawk?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I'm ok, I just took a few dents in that last tussle with Soaron. I'm still over 50 per cent.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
Don't worry about Hawk, Captain, he'll be standing behind me like he always does.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Just make sure you don't fall on me, like you always do.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
I haven't had so much fun since my birthday party.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Hm. You're birthday party was noisier.

Lord Dread:
He is here, Blastarr. The one who has injured the machine. The one who defies me again and again. Captain Power.

Blastarr:
[as if growling and screaming at the same time] Power!

Lord Dread:
Yes, my warlord. Go find him. Him and all who serve him. And when you do, destroy them.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Just like the good old days, eh, buddy? Except I used to carry you.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
Dream on, MacDuff.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-11 mark 26, captain recording. My team and I are headed for home. Thanks to them and the other forces of human resistance, Project New Order is finished. It's our first major victory.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
Hawk?

Maj. Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I'm okay, I just took a few dents in that last tussle with Soaron. I'm still over fifty percent.

Lt. Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
Don't worry about Hawk, Captain. He'll be standing behind me like he always does.

Maj. Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Just make sure you don't fall on me. Like you always do.

[they all laugh]

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I don't think we're gonna be flying outta here. Not unless you're a wizard with stabilizers.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
[Hawk is running a fever] It's gonna be ok, Mitch. It's gonna be ok.

Boy:
Mitch?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I'm sorry, Mitch is my son. You remind me of him. They took him away too. Only to a place you don't come back from.

Captain Jonathan Power:
How long till the Jumpship's airborne?

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Eh... allowing for a safety margin to catch all the circuits that might blow us up in the air, 45 minutes?

Captain Jonathan Power:
And without the safety margin?

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
I'll let you know. Assuming I don't blow us up on the ground.

Soaron:
Enough. You cease to amuse me, organic. Time to die!

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I told you we'd get out. You did good, buddy. It's funny, I still don't know your name.

Boy:
Call me Mitch.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-12 mark 15. Hard to believe, but we've beaten Project New Order three and a half falls out of four. Dread's on the run. I should be happy, and I am. Question is: when will he strike back, and how?

Soaron:
You are not well, my lord? The battle with Power is...

Lord Dread:
[interrupting] Is over. But the war, Soaron, oh, that is something else again. When he sees me next, Power will find a very different opponent. Soon I will throw off the bonds of flesh and then we shall see indeed.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 4712.22. Dread is lashing back. It's a virtual repeat of his Christmas offensive back in '42, only worse. This time he isn't even trying to take prisoners. It's search and destroy all the way.

Lord Dread:
Teleportation. They do have the technology!

Blastarr:
It is good?

Lord Dread:
Good! My warlord, thanks to you I now possess their greatest secret. And with it, I can destroy them once and for all.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
You can't get a fir tree anymore, it only snows way up North, but by God, we're gonna have a Christmas tree.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
You're telling me that nobody in this room thinks that thing looks like the inside of a Biodread? [barely stifles a laugh]

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Philistine!

Lord Dread:
I was a scientist once. It's good for the mind to return to old habits.

Lacchi:
Wait, wait, I am not quite dead yet. I... am... not... quite... dead... yet.

Lord Dread:
Overmind, this body grows weary. It has been taxed beyond it's capabilities. What is the status of the cerebral transfer?

Overmind:
On schedule. You must enter cryogenics suspension to begin the transfer within 24 hours.

Lord Dread:
Enough time to finish this task.

Lord Dread:
Activate the mind link. For the first time since I took control of all the world's Biomechs and began the Metal wars, I require direct access to all of our troopers everywhere on this planet. Show me the power, Overmind. Touch me with the mind of the machine.

Lord Dread:
Until this moment Power's base of operations was unknown to me. But now the advantage is mine. With this, I can follow him, locate his base and destroy him. And there's absolutely nothing he can do about it. He's finished, Soaron. And he doesn't even know it... yet.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-12 mark 24, captain reporting. We've received word from our old springer friend Locke. Say's he's finally broken into the Dread teleweb and gotten the data we need on troop strength and deployment. This could be a crucial breakthrough.

Locke:
How does a big guy like you move so quiet anyways?

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
[quietly ] Practice.

Lieutenant Michael Ellis:
[having just decapitated a Dread trooper] Get me two next time, they make good bookends.

Overunit Gerber:
You did well.

Locke:
I stink!

Overunit Gerber:
Yes, well lets not discuss your hygiene.

Captain Jonathan Power:
One more thing. When we get back to the base I'd very much like to finish our conversation. I think we have a lot to talk about.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
Right.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[aboard the Jumpship] If Dread gets his hands on what's in that base, the resistance is finished.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
[alone in the Powerbase] You give me three minutes, I'm gonna do a backup on Mentor and grab the extra suits.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Negative!

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
That's standard evac procedure!

Captain Jonathan Power:
Hang procedure, get out of there, Pilot, now! That's an order.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
Mentor, retina scan and voice identification Jennifer Chase, codename: Pilot. Access level Blue Five. Activate auto destruct sequence. Authorization code 7995 omega, destruct.

Overmind:
Victory is ours, Dread.

Lord Dread:
With the Powerbase in my hands, nothing can stop the birth of the New Order.

Overmind:
Then it is time for the final commitment.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[aboard the Jumpship] Jennifer hold on, hold on, we're gonna come.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
[In the Powerbase] No. Stay clear. The auto destruct is no good. I have to blow th... [winces in pain] I have to blow the power - power source, it's the only way.

Captain Jonathan Power:
We're on our way to get you, right now. We're on our, there's another way to do it.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
It's too late. All broken up inside. Stay clear. I'm sorry we never got to finish our talk.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Jennifer, don't.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
I love you, John, so much.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
[to John] Goodbye. You think of me some times.

[Blastarr enters]

Corporal Jennifer Chase:
Goodbye.

Blastarr:
Surrender, by order of Lord Dread.

Corporal Jennifer Chase:

Lord Dread:

Overmind:

Lord Dread:
Again Power keeps me from my destiny, form my future. He must be stopped. Activate scan in digitizing system. Perhaps the answer to my future lies in Power's past.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
Athena was my father's lab assistant. She was brilliant, beautiful. Every Friday we'd meet at City Limits Bookstore. We'd sit, play chess, talk. I never could beat her at chess.

Cpl. Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
[turns around] Just friends?

Capt. Jonathan Power:
For a while. Then the war started. We lost track of each other.

Athena Samuels:

Capt. Jonathan Power:

Athena Samuels:

Capt. Jonathan Power:

Athena Samuels:

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 99-7 Mark 3, Captain reporting. 0300 hours. Scout, Pilot and Tank continue the reconnaissance of Sector 7. So far, all results negative.

Lord Dread:
[off screen] Chapter 4: And the machine was given onto man. The machine was perfect of line and elegant of form. And the machine said, "This is my gift to my people, that they may throw off the bonds of flesh".

Briggs:

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:

Captain Jonathan Power:
I'm okay. I feel like a... tin can that somebody's been beating on for a year or two, but... I'm okay.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
We got trouble.

Captain Jonathan Power:
Hawk, I got company coming. Triangulate my position and pick me up. And don't stop for coffee.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-10 Mark 15, Captain recording. We're on our way to a meeting with a representative from Eden II. It's still hard to believe it exists. And even harder to figure out how the contact can survive in the place we're going - Dark Town. Intensive proton bombing during the Metal Wars left the environment changed, unlivable. Burn holes, acid fog and God knows what else. Even with our Power suits that's going to be tough. Our only hope is to pick up the Eden contact signal beacon as fast as possible and get out before the environment affects us or Dread troopers spot us.

Overunit:
[receiving an incoming message] There's nothing of interest, my Lord. We've lost contact with two of our troopers in Dark Town. Probably gone rogue like the others.

Lord Dread:
Do not be so quick to assume what is of interest to me. And proceed with your analysis.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:

Captain Jonathan Power:

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Yeah. If there's one thing I hate is a grabby robot.

John:
When you come to Eden II, perhaps we'll fit you with one of these.

[indicating a robe he's carrying]

John:
Completely impervious to acid, heat, cold, even small arms.

Captain Jonathan Power:
It's a new process they've developed.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Yeah, it made all the papers. Still, if it is true it's the first non-Dread technology we've seen since the Metal Wars.

Lieutenant Michael 'Tank' Ellis:
[firing at Blastarr] Eat this, garbage can!

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
A real orange. I haven't seen a real orange in five years!

Captain Jonathan Power:
Eden II is real. It has to be.

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database jounal 74 mark 12. A raid on Epsilon station. Dangerous, but the only way to get what we need. I hope.

Captain Jonathan Power:

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
Project New Order. I've heard reference to that before.

Captain Jonathan Power:
It's divided into four phases.

Mentor:
Since these names are from Greek Mythology, the four phases might be refer to the four elements: earth, air, water, fire. High probability Dread plans either to attack them or to use them in an attack.

Lord Dread:
Overmind?

Overmind:

Lord Dread:
There's been a possible breach of security on the Charon program. We must move up the birthing. Will you be ready?

Overmind:
We shall be ready. If the power we need is available.

Lord Dread:
One by one the power stations go online. Millions of watts of broadcast power, ready to converge here. And from that power... life.

Overmind:
We detect pride in your voice, Lord Dread. Emotions are for organics.

Lord Dread:

Lord Dread:
How many will you create? Hundreds, thousands? How many voices live within you, Overmind?

Overmind:
Many. For we are legion.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
Well, we've done the best we can. But it's chancy. Mentor's internal damage program may not be able to handle a switch on. The whole thing could go when we energize.

Captain Jonathan Power:
And if that happens?

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
There'll be no restoring it. Mentor will fry every component he's got. Look John, I know how you feel. I feel the same way. But Mentor is not your father.

Captain Jonathan Power:
No, but he has the face of my father. His voice, his essence. I don't think I can watch my father die all over again.

Major Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
I'm laying in the coordinates for Volcania. If we have to go, I'm taking that place with us.

Lord Dread:
Overmind, did any of them get through, do we have our new breed?

Overmind:
[long pause] Only one, Lord Dread, only one.

Lord Dread:
Overmind, what is this? I programmed in no such design.

Overmind:
We did. As the power failed, there was insufficient material to construct another Bio-Dread. But there was enough for this. He will serve us well.

Lord Dread:

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 475.20, captain reporting. With Pilot and the rest on a surveiling expedition, Hawk and I are finishing the med supply runs to Sector 3, just outside what's left of Dallas.

Lord Dread:
All things that are of the flesh shall be paired away. The day of the machine is inevitable. For the forces of history are with us.

Overmind:
But more than flesh must be eliminated. Emotions are not of the machine. You must work harder to cast them aside.

Lord Dread:

Overmind:

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:

Andy Jackson:

Captain Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 47-7 mark 12, captain reporting. Scout has detected an unusual amount of Dread activity in Sector 9 on coded broadcasts on both military frequencies. Stranger yet, in the last 48 hours we have encountered three settlements barren of life. How could hundreds of people just disappear? Or surrender without a fight. How?

Lord Dread:
The armor fits you well. If I did not know better I would say that you were Power.

Jason:
Have you met him before?

Lord Dread:
Yes, I knew his father. Our ways parted when I merged my mind with the Overmind. It was then that I saw that only by elevating man to the machine could our goal be reached.

Corporal Jennifer 'Pilot' Chase:
[about Power] He sure loves his Sky-bike, doesn't he?

Captain Jonathan Power:
[chained to a wall] Hate to intrude, but you think any of you guys could tell me what's going on?

Zig:
What's going on, is dying time, cap'n! [slaps him across the face]

Zig:

Captain Jonathan Power:

Jason:

Captain Jonathan Power:

Captain Jonathan Power:

Soaron:

Captain Jonathan Power:

Lord Dread:

Maj. Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
[having stopped two Wardogs from cutting off his head] Sorry, but I've gotten used to this head.

Capt. Jonathan Power:
[Tank has just burst through a wall] Thanks, Tank.

Lt. Michael 'Tank' Ellis:

Maj. Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:

Capt. Jonathan Power:
[voice over] Database journal 475.13, captain recording. Scout has monitored a transmission concerning raids on Dread outposts in Sector 24. Raids carried out with military precision by a small, heavily armed cadre. We know of no active resistance in this sector, therefore we are trying to locate this group, discover why they're fighting Dread, and possibly enlist their aid in our struggle.

Keiko:

Maj. Matthew 'Hawk' Masterson:
