As long as his books are read, his paintings admired, as long as our songs are sung, we may each of us live forever.

Abe:

Henry Morgan:

Jo Martinez:

Detective Hanson:
Possible flame source. Huh, [show bottle with booze] possible combustible material

Jo Martinez:
Unless this guy was drinking rocket fuel, there had to be something else

Jo Martinez:
Henry, we need a cause of death

Detective Hanson:
Pretty obvious, ain't it?

Henry Morgan:
Manner of death is never obvious. Context is everything

Jo Martinez:
[to Hanson] Bet he says this one is murdered

Henry Morgan:
[after investigation] This man was murdered

Detective Hanson:
Not fair! He always says that

Jo Martinez:
Who even uses film anymore?

Lucas Wahl:
Uh, nobody, you know. Just Steven Spielberg, Wes Anderson and myself.

Jo Martinez:
You wanna take another look at Izzy's car?

Henry Morgan:
Yes, I think it's time we perform an auto-tospy

Attorney:
[Rushes in] Are you planning on charging my client with a crime? If not, I don't know what we're doing here

Lt. Joanna Reece:
I'm entitled to hold on to your client for 72 hours and I intend to enjoy every one of those hours!

Lucas Wahl:
This thing hasn't seen a lot of love over the last, I don't know, 20 years. The emulsion has separated from the base

Henry Morgan:
What does that even mean?

Lucas Wahl:
Oh, this must be how it feels to be, well, you! Kinda feels good being the expert!

Henry Morgan:
Abe baked the tape! It's a good as new, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, it brought the original recording back to life

Detective Hanson:
Baked? Like in an oven?

Jo Martinez:
Henry, please tell me you did not take evidence home and cooked it

Henry Morgan:
Yes, but it worked

Henry Morgan:
There are moments in all of our lives when we are compelled to ask ourselves: how far are we willing to go for what we want? How much are we willing to risk, to sacrifice, to endure? Because it's one thing to yearn for something, but quite another to find the strength to achieve it.

Jo Martinez:
You mean she was still alive when it was cut off?

Henry Morgan:
Yes, but I doubt whether she suffered for long with an actuate artery severed, Eva must have likely bled to death within minutes, but I need to see her body to confirm that

Mike Hanson:
Well, gonna be a bit of a problem with that. We haven't found it yet

Henry Morgan:
Extraordinary, isn't it?

Lucas Wahl:
Yeah, I was gonna go with "bizarre"

Jo Martinez:
Please tell me you found some of the killers DNA

Henry Morgan:
Unfortunately no, but I did find something else on Eva's ballet shoe: Merino's wool fibers. And judging by the coarseness and thread count, I'd say it was from a rug of some kind

Jo Martinez:
Not exactly the smoking gun I was hoping for

Abe:
Ah, Lucas

Lucas Wahl:
If you're looking for Henry, you just missed him

Abe:
Eh, nope! You're the one I wanted. I have a little favor to ask, eh, it's about a woman

Lucas Wahl:

Every person who has lived long enough has something in their past that must be forgotten. A moment when they failed or simply went right instead of left, and that simple choice changed their life for the worse. So we cover it up and forget, but deep down, we know it will come back to haunt us.

[Looking at human bones] Talk about a cold case

Henry Morgan:
We found these remains in our victim's warehouse last night. They were from a 200 year old shipwreck. Let's find out what happened to him

Lucas Wahl:
200 years old! I guess there are no [pirate voice] aye witnesses. [Henry looks at him, normal voice] Okay, I'm done

Lucas Wahl:
Hey, got a package for you. Looks cool [Henry opens it and see gun which most likely killed him for the first time] Nice gun

Henry Morgan:
Yes. I, eh, requested it from The Explorer's Club. It was found on the shipwreck that Rick discovered

Lucas Wahl:
I know

Henry Morgan:
You know?

Lucas Wahl:
Yeah, I read it on your Explorer's Club Journal here, right? They did a whole photo spread and everything. Kind a cool

Henry Morgan:
You read my magazines?

Lucas Wahl:

Henry Morgan:

Lucas Wahl:
You know the flint lock pistol took over a minute to reload and its accuracy was only 15 feet. Kind a lame gun, honestly

Mike Hanson:

Henry Morgan:
What does that mean?

Mike Hanson:
Doc, please! There's like a 70% chance they're... you know

Henry Morgan:

Mike Hanson:

I have seen a lot of deaths, in all its forms- Coronary disease, Gunshot wounds, Blunt force trauma,Exsanguination, Strangulation...

Jo Martinez:

what kills you, is not what causes your heart to stop beating, It's what prevents you from living.

Detective Mike Hanson:

Well, I walked here. I stopped at my local bakery for some coffee. I feel bad saying this, but it's kind of nice when a crime scene happens down the streets from your house

Detective Mike Hanson:

Jo Martinez:

Lucas Wahl:

Lucas Wahl:

Detective Mike Hanson:

Jo Martinez:

Detective Mike Hanson:

Jo Martinez:

[Looking a the security tape of the robbery] Just another thieving parasite

Detective Hugh Dunn:

Henry Morgan:
Lucas, you deposit internal organs into formaldehyde

Lucas Wahl:
Yeah, but I am used to death, you know. It's the unknown stenches of life that freaks me out, like, ugh, like old diapers or leftover Indian food, blech!

Detective Hugh Dunn:
How did you finger Rodriguez for this?

Detective Mike Hanson:
[Clears his throat] Doc smelled his sweat

Detective Hugh Dunn:
Interesting police work

Jo Martinez:
Well, I trust Henry's nose over evidence every day

Lucas Wahl:
Yeah, he's out of surgery. He's gonna be fine, it's flesh wound

Henry Morgan:
[sighs] Terribly vague description: "flesh wound". In every wound is a flesh wound

Lucas Wahl:
[Chuckling] Well, it's just a saying, doc

Abe:
When it comes to police matters, I go with my gut. It never steered me wrong before

Henry Morgan:
When has it steered you right?

Jo Martinez:
[Pours herself a drink] Do not try to help me, Henry! Don't offer me advice, sympathy or any of your armchair analysis

Henry Morgan:
Understood. [pause] Perhaps one tiny suggestion?

Jo Martinez:
Henry, I am armed

Henry Morgan:
A splash of water. Helps the rye to release its full bouquet

Jo Martinez:

Well, if you are gonna drink, you might as well do it properly

I've made an incredible discovery about my condition

Henry Morgan:

Lucas Wahl:

Henry Morgan:

Lucas Wahl:
Okay. Do you like to hear about my weekend?

Henry Morgan:

Lucas Wahl:

Henry Morgan:
For what's it worth, from my perspective, you don't need Aterna

Laura Graff:

Jo Martinez:

Oh please, you must know you're attractive, scientifically speaking. The distance between your eyes is 44% of the width your face. 46% is considered optimal, but you are in the zone. Wide eyes, high cheekbones is not my taste, mind you, I prefer a more flawed look, but empirical speaking, detective, you're quite hot

Jo Martinez:
Looks don't go very far in my chosen profession. It's more of a liability actually

Henry Morgan:
And I appreciate the effort to conceal them, but just so you know, it's not working

Henry Morgan:
Committing fully to the protection of another can often engender a kind of paradox. In doing so we are tempted to put ourselves at risk. the very thing most likely to cause pain on those we are trying so desperately to keep pain from.

Abe:
Anyway, you can dwell on the past or...

Henry Morgan:

Abe:
Appreciate the present, focus on cheerier things [picks up the phone] Hello? Oh, just a moment [hands over to ] It's Jo for you . There's been a murder. So much for cheerier things

Henry Morgan:
[arrives at the crime scene] My God

Jo Martinez:
[looks at the victim] It's not very pretty, is it?

Henry Morgan:
Actually it's gorgeous [and walks to a statue]

Lucas Wahl:
It's just... a swastika embedded into a dead guy's head, stolen Nazi art. What was this guy? Indiana Jones?

Henry Morgan:
Who's Indiana Jones?

Lucas Wahl:
Is that a joke? Seriously?

Henry Morgan:
You're saying our suspect is an artiste?

Jo Martinez:
Yeah, report says his name is Max Brenner. The only problem is, he's got a pretty good alibi

Henry Morgan:
Max Brenner's been dead for 20 years

Jo Martinez:
You know, you kind of take out the fun in these reveals

Abe:
Good news?

Henry Morgan:
It seems that our victim was murdered by a dead man

Detective Hanson:
So, maybe I am missing something. If this Max Brenner guy's been dead since the 90's, how did he break into the apartment and kill Karl Haas?

Henry Morgan:
Well, is quite simple actually

Lucas Wahl:
Max Brenner is a zombie Nazi hunter, huh? [everyone stares at Lucas] What? We were all thinking it

Jo Martinez:
[In the lab] What no bodies, so you're doing an autopsy on a frame?

Henry Morgan:
Sometimes the people we love are the ones who anger us the most

Henry:

That is according to eyewitness accounts. But I find the eyes to be the least reliable form of perception, unless of course they're my own

Jo Martinez:
You picked up! When I pick up, the crime scene is a fountain or a museum, someplace nice. You pick up, it's a crack den or a tunnel

Detective Hanson:
What? I've got bad crime scene karma?

Jo Martinez:
Well, based on the amount of blood, we'd figured she blood out from her neck wound made by this [shows fondue fork]

Lucas Wahl:
Oh! I love fondue. It can go, like, savory, with cheese or sweet with chocolate. But the best part, it's social and therefore a Petri dish for communicable diseases. I'll get this tested

Henry Morgan:
Due to the voyeuristic nature of these photographs, I'd wager our victim was the object of someone's fantasy

Jo Martinez:
Which turned into a nightmare

Henry Morgan:

Jo Martinez:
Okay, that just hurts my head

Henry Morgan:
There are things for all of us, that even all the time in the world wouldn't be able to erase

COD is blunt force trauma to the head. He was struck with his award from approximately a 20 degree vector

Jo Martinez:

Henry Morgan:

Actually, I am a real doctor. I will try not to be offended on behalf of the brotherhood of medical examiners the world over. But to your question... yes. I was a physician for a time, years ago

So why did you stop?

Henry Morgan:
It was time for a change

How do you know all this stuff?

I used to be a grave digger

Jo Martinez:
Right, how could I forget? I got to ask you: did you enjoy it?

Henry Morgan:
Hm, found it rewarding

Abe:
Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore! Would it?

Lucas Wahl:
You guys would, you know, notice if I was abducted, right?

Henry Morgan:
I've already told him that we would be, if it wasn't too busy

Dr. Henry Morgan:
I've seen a lot of death, a lot of pain, a lot of suffering; but I've also seen a lot of life, a lot of beauty, a lot of wonder.

Dr. Henry Morgan:
It's not the number of years we live that matters, our lives just add up to a series of moments. We never know when or where they'll happen, but they stick with us marking our souls forever.

Dr. Henry Morgan:
The problem with living 200 years isn't the loneliness or the loss, okay sure it is those things, but what really gets you is when life ceases to surprise you.

Dr. Henry Morgan:
I've spent my entire life studying the human body, and I can say with scientific certainty, that what keeps us alive more important than blood or oxygen or even love, is hope.

Henry:
The problem with living for 200 years, Isn't the loneliness or the pain or the loss.

Henry:
Okay, sure, it is those things.

But what really gets you.

It's when life ceases to surprise you.

Dr. Henry Morgan:
My name is Henry Morgan. My story is a long one. It may sound a bit implausible. In fact you probably won't believe me, but I'll tell you anyway, because beyond all else I have lots an lots of time

Dr. Henry Morgan:
You see, something happened that night. I was transformed. I still feel love, pleasure, pain. My life is just like yours except for one small difference. It never ends!

Abe:
Correct me if I am wrong, you never died in a train crash before, have you?

Dr. Henry Morgan:
No I have not

Abe:
I'd say this is cause for celebration

Dr. Henry Morgan:

Jo Martinez:
Sorry, I think you're confused, I didn't know any of the victims

Dr. Henry Morgan:

I noticed a slight discoloration on your left ring finger. Could be divorced, but most divorcees don't wear their wedding band around their necks. I put his death at under a year

Jo Martinez:
How would you know that?

Dr. Henry Morgan:
Well, my assumption is that your drinking is a recent development. Squinting suggests sensitivity to light. Slight decrease in respiratory function, the mascara under your right eye is crooked

Jo Martinez:
I was in a hurry this morning

Dr. Henry Morgan:
And there is none under your left

Lucas Wahl:
[after picking up the phone] Hey, it's for you. Says he is a friend

Dr. Henry Morgan:
Excuse me [goes into his office to pick up the phone]

Lucas Wahl:
Well, that's weird

Jo Martinez:
Which part?

Dr. Henry Morgan:
He doesn't have any friends

Dr. Henry Morgan:
You want a drink

Jo Martinez:
Oh, Henry, actually I'm, I'm...

Dr. Henry Morgan:
I was not hitting on you, detective. I was merely stating a fact. You want a drink. [whispers] Don't worry. I am the least judgmental person you'll ever meet

Jo Martinez:
So, I checked you out. You went to medical school in Guam. Before that you actually worked as a gravedigger and you carry around a 300 years old pocket watch. So Henry Morgan, what's your story?

Dr. Henry Morgan:
Well, I won't bore you with the details, but the watch was a gift. Legend has it, it belonged to a doctor seeking passage on a ship from Africa. It was given to him by his father. Anyway the watch was lost at the bottom of the ocean and years later it was recovered by a team of treasure hunters. It was bought at auction and given to me

Jo Martinez:
Wow, that's an... a generous gift. This person must have really cared about you

Dr. Henry Morgan:
Yes, I suppose she did. But then she came to her senses and left me

Jo Martinez:
[giggles] Yeah, they do that

Henry Morgan:
My name is Henry Morgan. My story is a long one. It might sound a bit implausible. In fact, you probably won't believe it but I'll tell you anyway because beyond all else I have lots, lots of time.

Yes, some memories are precious and we need to hang on to them. but Emily Dickinson wrote 'Forever is composed of nows' and she's right. If we root ourselves too deeply in the past we'll miss what's right in front of us.

Henry Morgan:
They say memories make us who we are, that the past defines us. But we can't forget to grow, evolve, because sometimes a memory can be so powerful that we get stuck in it, frozen in a moment.

Mike Hanson:
You know, I was in a band. No, seriously. The Craniacs, that was our name. That's pretty cool, right? Yeah, I was, uh, lead singer, you know, front guy

Jo Martinez:
[cynical] You must miss the applause

Lt. Joanna Reece:
But I want you to take your time and...

Mike Hanson:

Henry Morgan:
He has always maintained his innocence

Abe:
Well, so what? I mean, you can't find a guy in prison who says he is guilty

Mike Hanson:
All we need is a tiny, little DNA sample to compare to a hair that Hen...

Lt. Joanna Reece:
Absolutely not! NYPD cannot interfere on the off chance that he might be involved in a 32 year old cold case. Are we clear?

[Jo and Mike leave the room]

Lt. Joanna Reece:
Henry, I just want to make sure that you understand that no one from this office is allowed to pursue him any further

Henry Morgan:
Understood

Dr. Harold Washington:

Lucas Wahl:

Jo Martinez:

Dr. Harold Washington:

Dr. Harold Washington:

Dr. Harold Washington:
[after Henry's view on the victim] Well detective, it seems you would have a choice. My analysis, which will wrap up the case by the end of the day or Dr. Morgan's stew of suppositions and suggestions, which will lead to paperwork and insanity
