Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy is an American crime drama television series created by Kurt Sutter that aired from 2008 to 2014. It followed the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in California's Central Valley. The show starred Charlie Hunnam as Jackson "Jax" Teller, who is initially the vice president and subsequently the president of the club following his stepfather and president, Clay Morrow, was demoted after a challenge vote was brought up by the club. He soon begins to question the club and himself. Brotherhood, loyalty and redemption were constant themes. Sons of Anarchy premiered on September 3, 2008, on cable network FX. The series's third season attracted an average of 4.9 million weekly viewers, making it FX's highest rated series and surpassing its other hits The Shield, Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me. Season four and five premieres were the two highest-rated telecasts in FX's history. On December 9, 2014, the series ended, as creator Kurt Sutter felt seven seasons was enough, and that he wanted Sons of Anarchy to end in a blaze of glory. The sixth season aired from September 10, 2013, through December 10, 2013. The seventh and final season of the series premiered on September 9, 2014. The series finale premiered on December 9, 2014. This series explored vigilantism, government corruption and racism, and depicted an outlaw motorcycle club as an analogy for human transformation. David Labrava, a real-life member of the Oakland chapter of Hells Angels, served as a technical adviser, and also played one of the main characters, Happy Lowman, the club's assassin. On November 2013, Sutter indicated that he was in talks with FX to make a Sons of Anarchy prequel set in the 1960s. In February 2015, he said he would not work on the prequel, which is likely to be titled "The First 9". In November 2016, FX announced the development of a spin-off series Mayans M.C. that will be centered around Latino culture.

Jackson 'Jax' Teller:
[In his journal] There are lessons to be found here. But, mostly, I do this so that you can know me. Lately, as I write these, I realize they are as much for me as they are for you. This is the one place I can be completely open. The pen and paper has no judgment. No vote. It simply receives my truth, and allows me to turn the page. And today, this is my truth. I am terrified a great deal of the time. Afraid of what I've done. Of what I'm doing. And of what I might have to do. It's not a crippling fear. In fact, it's just the opposite. I thrive on it. I crave it. I need that rush of terror to get me out of bed in the morning. It's in my DNA. I have tremendous remorse for the acts of violence I've committed. Both planned and spontaneous. But, I think what brings me the most sorrow is that I've learned to justify this behavior. I always find a reason. A cause. A need. That allows me the karmic lubrication that allows me to stuff my guilt into a savage compartment. I've become the thing. The one I hated. And with that awareness comes periods of days, sometimes weeks, I have to avoid looking into a mirror. My self-hate is deep, so palpable, I fear I'll lunge at my own image, shatter the glass and cut myself with shards of broken reflection. Since my best friend was killed, I've lost my center. Op was always my pull back to true north. Now my doubt and sense of fraudulence barks so loudly in my head, that most of the time I can't hear anything else. Love, camaraderie, freedom. All the things I want from this life are lost in the din. Forgive my indulgence, sons. But, today may be a day we both remember. A defining day. And I want you to look back at this entry and know that at the very least, your father was completely honest. So, you know I speak the truth when I tell you that you are the most important thing to me. I will never hurt you. Never abandon you. I love you, Abel. I love you, Thomas. More than anything or anyone. I always will. Everything I do is for my sons.

Nero Padilla:
?rale. Good to see you, Marcus.

Marcus Alvarez:
You too, Nero. Thanks for makin' the time, huh?

Nero Padilla:
Yeah, it's all good. Gotta say, though, I'm a little more than, uh, curious about your offer to my boy Fiasco. Mayans helpin' Byz-Lats... how's that work?

Marcus Alvarez:
Sh*t that happens in Oaktown don't stay in Oaktown. It affects everyone.

Nero Padilla:
What sh*t is that?

Marcus Alvarez:
Eh, we got a delicate balance. Us, Niners, Chinese, Italians... we all got our piece and we all got our boundaries. And we all get our guns from SAMCRO. Same price, same quality. By the nature of the business, MC became the de facto referee. And Jax embraced that.

Nero Padilla:
But not anymore.

Marcus Alvarez:
That's right. See, Sons pulling out creates a void. Not just in guns, but in power. Word is, Jax is handing over the Irish guns to August Marks. And that move gives black a lotta weight, ese. Upsets the balance. Makes a real problem for all of us.

Nero Padilla:
Sim?n. Have a meet with the MC, work it out.

Marcus Alvarez:
Jax shoulda thought about that before he started killing people. Not my meetin' to call. Now I gotta sit down with the Chinese and see what my options are.

Nero Padilla:
Why you tellin' me all this?

Marcus Alvarez:
You got a relationship, ese.

Nero Padilla:
Business partner. I'm just Teller's business partner. We're movin' a little p*ssy, ?qu? no? I got no say in what he does with his club.

Marcus Alvarez:
Mayans are starting up a charter up in Stockton. I got twenty members from Oakland and Vegas gonna make the jump. Things play out in Oaktown the way I think, it's gonna be brown and yellow against black and white. Now, I know that puts you at odds with Teller and your own streets, ese.

Nero Padilla:
Jesus Christ. That's, that's the way this is gonna go down?

Marcus Alvarez:
Givin' you a heads-up, hermano, that's all.

Nero Padilla:
Best we stay neutral.

Marcus Alvarez:
Come on, ese. There ain't no Switzerland in the 'hood.
