Speed of Life

Alien Virtual:
I always try to coach the actors for their speech. My abilities in this matter are still limited as my voice or indeed my accent tends to drift from Scotland to London, passing over Russia, China and Jupiter depending on the time of the day. The main focus of attention is always clarity in the delivery of each line of dialogue and as a rule; we always start with a series of classics: "the rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain but in Hampshire hurricane hardly ever happens". Of course I always bring a real elocutionist on the set for that purpose.

Tom Norwood:
It was reasonably nerve wracking working with a director like Nick. All in all I think it took us about two years to get all the photography under wrap.

Stuart Mansell:
Yeah I think a few people mentioned how real the scene was asking if we were actually having sex well as far as I know we weren't, I don't know how we managed not to we had to roll around on a rather stained floor for a while for sometime and going through the motion and I guess we did a very good job in faking it. It was quiet an interesting scene.

Jenia Emmanuelle:
No, we didn't have sex on the set but I guess you can believe what you want to believe.

Tom Norwood:
It took us two weeks to film the ferry scenes and we took numerous trips to the isle of Wight in England and probably several return trips and two trips to Normandy in France with just 6 other crew members.

Jenia Emmanuelle:
Most of the scenes were shot on the cellar in the night but the scene that we filmed was in the morning on the second floor in the toilets that's why there is slightly more light. It was extremely uncomfortable, extremely cold; I had goose pimples it was very... What can I say but I'm sure it added to it, you can see how uncomfortable I was, so yeah -smiling- if you want to see me being uncomfortable -small laugh- and yeah it was, we were in some compromising position so that added to the uncomfortable-ness.

Stuart Mansell:
The way we work it's kind of unorthodox; it's a bit different to what I'm used to, what I have done previously that is to say it isn't any worse, any harder or any easier and obviously with a minimal crew. I was often left on my own in front of two cameras to do some of my scenes. The crew had vanished.

Stuart Mansell:
It's the second film I have done with Nick Yeah, working with Nick... We worked in a kind of different ways like I said what I was used to. I quiet enjoyed the fact that I was allowed to just get on and do my bit, do my lines. He was obviously happy with what I was doing. There wasn't a major direction and there was a lot of freedom to kind of do as I wanted... We spent a lot of time in that warehouse building with lots of different levels that looked exactly the same really. I think a lot of people were wondering around getting lost half of the time. Yeah... It wasn't the nicest place to get lost into. It was old, disused, dusty, gummy and not kept very well that was quiet an experience finding our way around the building.
