I always try to coach the actors for their speech. My abilities in this matter are still limited as my voice or indeed my accent tends to drift from Scotland to London, passing over Russia, China and Jupiter depending on the time of the day. The main focus of attention is always clarity in the delivery of each line of dialogue and as a rule; we always start with a series of classics: "the rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain but in Hampshire hurricane hardly ever happens". Of course I always bring a real elocutionist on the set for that purpose.
