There Is No Problem

Adyashanti:
Welcome to satsang. As most of you know, "satsang", meaning "association with truth".

Adyashanti:
As soon as you become unconscious of your true nature you are imbibed with a sense - psychologically, emotionally, psychically - of "problem". Not that there actually is a problem. But you just feel the alienation from yourself, from life.

Adyashanti:
You know that theory that, like, life is a school and you're here to learn? Right? Life might be a school, but you're here to graduate. You're here to get - right, get out of - not get out of life, but get out of school.

Adyashanti:
Because this is what enlightenment is; this is what freedom is. Freedom is to be free from "problem". It's one of the most shocking aspects of the revelation of truth when it wakes up in you - is that, "My God, there isn't a problem".

Adyashanti:
There's no problem.

Adyashanti:
Because "association with truth" is different than "association with solving my problems". That make sense? Lest I become viewed as a problem-solver. Right? That's what Dr. Phil's for. And he's much better at it than I will ever dream of being.

Adyashanti:
Find out what's true first, and then you can double back and see if you still have problems afterwards.

Adyashanti:
If anybody that said anything to suggest that was I was experiencing wasn't a problem I would have thought they were just sort of a deranged, out-of-touch nut. And so therefore I have become that deranged, out-of-touch nut.

Adyashanti:
Consciousness is what is listening to this talk right now. Consciousness is listening. Consciousness is that which is aware of your own body, the mere fact that you can feel the seat you'e sitting on. What is conscious of how it feels to sit on that seat. Consciousness is conscious of what it feels like. Consciousness is conscious of these sounds. Consciousness is conscious of feelings and thoughts and emotions. Consciousness is conscious to the entirety of this moment. That's what I mean by "consciousness".

Adyashanti:
So you can't grasp consciousness. But neither can you get rid of it.

Adyashanti:
What you really are, really are, the truth of you: it all comes down to consciousness.

Adyashanti:
Consciousness doesn't view things problematically. It's just in total harmony with what is.

Adyashanti:
When you know yourself as consciousness, there's no friction. No friction means no problem: nothing between you and life.

Adyashanti:
As soon as we turn attention back upon itself, there can be freedom.

Adyashanti:
The truth of you doesn't belong in your mind, doesn't belong in your image of yourself. The truth of you belongs in the inner radiance of consciousness itself.

Adyashanti:
The mind may be chattering, but consciousness is silent.

Adyashanti:
What a relief to realize you're not a problem.

Adyashanti:
And as a very wise Buddhist teacher many years ago said to me, she said, "It's easy to be enlightened in heaven. It's a whole other thing to be enlightened in hell."
