Deep in the heart of the steaming Everglades lurks the ferocious alligator. But it is a little known fact that in certain months of the year, the alligator lies in a dormant state. Like bears, he hibernates. During this period of hibernation, while the alligator is sleeping, our little feathered friends can nest in perfect safety. So this otherwise dangerous and deadly terrain is converted into a peaceful bird sanctuary.
