The Holocaust: Colorado Remembers1996

Jack Welner:
It was sometime in the middle of the night. About three or four in the morning. Next day. I don't know exactly what time it was. We came to a stop. We couldn't see anything out the top corner of the rail car. There was a little window with bars, so we hoisted somebody up there to look out where we're at. And he says we're someplace, and it's some kind of camp. And all he saw was barbed wires. Electrified barbed wires.

And we realized that we arrived at our final destination being the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. And we were shouted to disembark immediately and...

Jack Welner:
Screams like hell. Aus aus! Out, out! They started pulling people out, the Germans.

Andre Mark:
Schnell. Schnell. Everything, schnell, schnell.

Arnold Klein:
Women, children, old men being dragged out of the... being beaten out of cattle cars after being there for four days without water.

Jack Welner:
And right away they started screaming, men this side, and women this side.
