Yeah, well, it's always been that way. One of the best days in my career turned out to be one of the worst. July 16th 1983, child abduction turned murder. The guy we napped killed five boys and there were cases we already tracked. It was such a victory in knowing that we'd stopped him hurting anyone else. When I got home my bags were packed. Caroline had had enough, I'd forgotten our anniversary again. As well as all the other little things that didn't seem important, because saving lives trumped everything, so I let ours die.
