[Rosa's teenage daughter, Nicky, has run away from home. Rosa has a serious talk with Nicky's maths tutor, Rodney Morris, in the cafe]

Rodney Morris:
Your daughter's a very attractive young woman.

Rosa:
My daughter is a child.

Rodney Morris:
She didn't look like a child. Not that night, not with the make-up and the clothes and the perfume. I'm not trying to excuse myself but she was coming on to me. I swear I didn't make the first move.

Rosa:
Coming on to you?

Rodney Morris:
Getting so close. Rubbing herself against me. I lost control. I responded.

Rosa:
How?

Rodney Morris:
I kissed her. She was enjoying it so... only I forgot she was only fifteen and...

Rosa:
What did you do?

[silence]

Rosa:
[angry] You disgust me!

Rodney Morris:
I'm going to the police. I wanted you to know that, I'm going to admit to the charge of sexual assault and I'm going to withdraw the charges against your son.

Rosa:
Some children never come home. Their parents never see them again. They never know if they're alive or dead.

Rodney Morris:
You cannot hate me as much as I hate myself.

Rosa:
Don't you believe it! [storms off]
