Law & Order: Special Victims Unit1999
[Claire Rinato wakes up in a hospital bed and sees Detective Fin Tutuola reading a paper at her bedside after him saving her from a drug over dose]
Fin Tutuola:
Trying to take the easy way out?
Claire Rinato:
And if I was?
Fin Tutuola:
Then it's too bad I got there in time.
Claire Rinato:
I really didn't mean to overdo it. Really.
Fin Tutuola:
That's what all Junkies say.
Claire Rinato:
You've done your good deed, now you can go.
[Fin looks up from his paper]
Fin Tutuola:
Maybe you don't get it, you're in serious trouble, if you don't pay attention you're going to prison.
Claire Rinato:
Are you still here?
[Fin looks back down at his paper]
Fin Tutuola:
I really can't believe, you know I almost bought it. How you took care of your sister and loved her. Damn girl, you're better than the soaps.
Claire Rinato:
You have no idea what it feels like to have a mother that doesn't give a damn about you.
Fin Tutuola:
Violins gonna start any minute.
Claire Rinato:
Screw you. Lisa was all I had. She was actually happy to see me come through the door. Unconditional love is a rush.
[Fin puts the paper away and comes to closer to the bed]
Fin Tutuola:
Give it to me straight. You kill her?
Claire Rinato:
No, but I couldn't protect her. Grace was too strong. She told me, that if I didn't keep my mouth shut, I was next.
Fin Tutuola:
You tell anybody?
Claire Rinato:
I called my grandmother the first time I was alone, but she was recovering from another stroke and I guess she didn't believe me.
Fin Tutuola:
If that's how it went down, then it wasn't your fault.
Claire Rinato:
That little girl trusted me to keep her safe. How is it not my fault?
