But what about the real money? The twenty thousand dollars?

Gene Autry:
It went to Quincy on the stagecoach. I knew from the start Harlow was trying to pull something sharp, but I couldn't say anything about it. The county needed his three thousand dollars and I didn't want to discourage his generosity.

Clem Hughes - Chairman, county board of supervisors:
So you pulled a switch!

Gene Autry:
Oh, I don't know. Maybe it was a double switch.
