[after Kocoum was shot by Thomas, Powhatan sees his dead body]

Powhatan:
Who did this?

Warrior:
Pocahontas was out in the woods. Kocoum went to find him and his white men attacked them.

Powhatan:
[angrily points his spear at Smith's throats] Your weapons are strong. And now, our anger is stronger. At sunrise, he will be the first to die!

Pocahontas:
[enters the scene] But, Father…!

Powathan:
[angrily] I told you to stay in the village! You disobeyed me! You have shamed your father!

Pocahontas:
[almost crying] I was only trying to help.

Powathan:
Because of your foolishness, Kocoum is dead! [to his warriors] Take him away! [the crowds takes Smith to be imprisoned, leaves Pocahontas alone. Nakoma approaches her regretting her horrible mistake]

Pocahontas:
Kocoum was just only coming to protect me!

Nakoma:
[guilty] Pocahontas, I sent Kocoum after you. I was worried about you. I thought it was doing the right thing.

Pocahontas:
[sadly] All this happened because of me. I will never see John Smith again.

Nakoma:
[holds Pocahontas' hand and leads her to John Smith] Come with me. [cut to where John Smith is held and they approach the two Native Americans guarding] Pocahontas wants to look into the eyes of the man who killed Kocoum.

Native American:
[look at each other and agree] Be quick. [they look at their side and one of them opens the tent where John is held then Pocahontas enters]
