[first lines]

Judith:
[getting out of cab in downpour] Run!

Sandy:
Oh. [dashes up onto the stoop]

Judith:
Here. Keep the change. Oh, blast!

Sandy:
What are you doing?

Judith:
I dropped my keys. They must have rolled somewhere, and I can't find them.

Sandy:
Keys can't roll.

Judith:
Coming from someone who's bone dry, that's not a very helpful remark.

Sandy:
Oh, all right. [returns to the pavement] Perhaps they rolled in the gutter.

Judith:
Yeah, well you just said that keys couldn't roll.

Sandy:
Bounced, then. Bounced!

[they are splashed by a passing car]

Sandy:
[yelling] Thanks a lot!

Judith:
There was something inevitable about that, wasn't there?
