Jack:
Ellie, wait. We don't event know if the plane is gonna land. I mean, how can it? The runways have been out of use for all this time.

Ellie:
Jack, it's been circling for half an hour. It's either going to land or run out of fuel and crash. Either way, it's a pretty big story, wouldn't you say?

Lex:
Hey come back here. This is desertion, you're all under arrest, you hear me!

Ebony:
Oh let them go.

Lex:
Are you serious?

Pride:
The election's over. It was a democratic vote and Ebony won.

Trudy:
Oh sure! And what's the first thing she does once she gets into office? Banishes Amber and Bray for disagreeing with her. What's so democratic about that?

Dee:
[approaches the Technos] Who are you? Have you come to help us? [pause] We're the Mozquitoes.

Ved:
What's that, little lady? A rock band?

Dee:
No, a Tribe.

Ved:
A Tribe, huh? I like that.

Dee:
That was pretty cool flying that plane. How did you do that?

Ved:
You're a mosquito, aren't you? You should know all about flying.

Technos:
[laughter]

Dee:
Who are you?

Ved:
[takes off his mask] Anyone we want to be. [to his men] Get them!!

Ved:
This is too easy, Jay. It's no fun when they don't fight back.

Jay:
We're not meant to have fun.

Ved:
That's your philosophy in life, you know that?

Ved:
Why do you always have to stick to the program?

Jay:
Because, little brother, I wrote the program.

Pride:
[Lex shows Pride and Trudy where he banished Amber and Bray] I don't know whether to thank you or punch your lights out!

Lex:
Don't you ever get dizzy living up on that moral high ground of yours?

[Amber is in labour]

Amber:
[cries] Where’s Bray?

Trudy:
I don’t know.

Amber:
When you see him tell him I hate him.

Trudy:
No. You tell him. You shout it out so he can hear it. Come on! Let me hear it!

Amber:
[shouts] I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!!

Trudy:
This is your little cousin, Brady. His daddy and your daddy were brothers. Say hello. Isn’t he beautiful? He’s perfect, Amber.

Jack:
You know, we used to be quite a big Tribe. Now, look at us. The Seven Dwarfs.

Ellie:
I guess that makes you grumpy then, doesn’t it Jack?

Ebony:
[trying to convince kids in the City to fight the Technos with them] We can get together, the whole City, and unite against this threat.

Street kid:
Why should we believe you?

Ebony:
Because I’m a Mall Rat. And you know what that means? We defeated the Locos. We found the antidote to the Virus. We got rid of the Chosen. The Mall Rats have always taken care of you. And we always will.

[The kids leave]

Pride:
So. You’re a Mall Rat, Ebony? Since when?

Ebony:
Since before you came on the scene, tofu boy!

Ellie:
So how do we get to them without being seen?

Ebony:
Look, we can’t hit them with a surprise attack. We don’t have that kind of muscle.

Jack:
Does that mean …?

Lex:
We’re gonna walk to their gates in broad daylight and politely ask them to leave?

Ebony:
Pretty much. Only not politely.

Pride:
Suppose they don’t wanna go.

Ellie:
What if we get captured?

Cloe:
What if they kill us?

Ebony:
I never said there wouldn’t be risks. Our only chance is to bluff them.

Jack:
With what??

Ebony:
They don’t know how many kids we have backing us up, but they must know they’re outnumbered.

Pride:
Something tells me they’re not too worried about that.

Ebony:
Well they should be. Look, if they want this City, they’re gonna have to fight for it.

Lex:
It’s good enough for me.

Ebony:
So, are we all agreed?

Pride:
Agreed.

Cloe:
It was his own fault. He lost his temper.

Salene:
Lex? I can’t believe it.

Jack:
It’s not a joke Salene.

Salene:
Am I laughing?

Ram:
Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay. He’s the coolest guy I know. He takes over a whole city and then he just stands there like he’s eating low-fat yoghurt.

Ram:
Oh Virts! Always getting so emotional, always trying to resist. But they will settle down once they realise it’s … pointless.

[Jack and Ellie are looking for Alice at the farm]

Ellie:
Alice? Alice!

Jack:
Ellie there’s no one here.

Ellie:
Then, maybe she’s in the City, she’s somewhere in the City. Come on, we’re going back.

Jack:
Ellie, I’m not sure I am.

Ellie:
What?

Jack:
I said I’m not sure if I want to go back.

Ellie:
Is this Luke? Are you still upset about me and Luke? Because if you hadn’t noticed, Jack, he’s gone. Like everyone else! Then I guess you’re glad about that.

Jack:
Ellie, no, I’m not glad!! But the reason I came back here, that’s gone too, isn’t it?

Ellie:
So you’re gonna leave everyone behind?

Jack:
Get off my back, Ellie, there’s hardly anyone left!

Ellie:
Oh what? So time to go then, hey?

Jack:
Look, you’ve made it quite clear that I’ve got no chance here, so just BACK OFF! Because you’ve got no right to tell me where I should be!!

Ellie:
Then go ahead!! Leave us!! It’s what you do, Jack! So, go do what you do best! Go NOW!

Jack:
Okay, then. I will. [he leaves]

Ved:
[about Jay] Do you even believe that that guy is my brother?

Java:
Oh, I’d say there’s a certain family resemblance. Except, he’s a man.

Jack:
[coming back to Ellie] Hi! I guess, I can’t seem to make up my mind.

Salene:
[Talking about Charlie and Mouse] They’re just a couple of kids I found wondering the streets.

Lex:
And you brought them here?

Salene:
Somebody had to look after them.

Lex:
And you chose us?

Salene:
It’s what we do, Lex. Remember, we’re the Mall Rats?

Lex:
Yeah, what’s left of us.

Ved:
[enters a bar with other Technos] Okay. Let’s just get one thing clear. You [points at a client] are a Virt. In fact you’re all Virts. Do you know what that means? It means that you’re virtual. You’re half alive. Whereas me and the boys, and this little weapon, we’re the real thing. Got that? Good! Coz’ it works out like this: we matter, and you don’t. So Virt, where’s the party.

Amber:
[baptising her baby] I wish for you a fine bright world for you to grow up in and a future for you to believe in. But you’ll need a name to be known by and I can’t think of any name better than your father’s. So Bray my little son, welcome to the world.

Ved:
[talking about his lost communicator] Come on, Jay. They're Virts. How would they know how to operate it? You might as well throw it in the monkey cage.

Ram:
Hey, hey, a fight. Can we watch? What's it all about guys?

Jay:
A family matter. Nothing to worry about.

Ram:
We're all family. [pause] Even you, Jay.

[Cloe is changing Lex's bandages]

Lex:
Ouch! Cloe that hurt!

Cloe:
Sorry.

Lex:
It should be Tai-San doing this. When she touches you with her hands it feels like butterflies.

Cloe:
Well, you'll just have to put up with mine for now won't you?

Lex:
I didn't mean to say you don’t have good hands. [pause] You're a grownup now aren't you?

Cloe:
Well I'm not a child anymore if that's what you mean.

Lex:
No. No, you're a woman. And a very pretty one too.

Cloe:
You think so?

Lex:
Sure! A lot of people have said Tai-San's off the wall and I sometimes thought so as well. But underneath it she's a real woman. Boy, is she that. I miss her bad Clo. And there's a thing about a man, he needs a real woman, someone to look after him. Like you're doing now. [Cloe presses harder on the bandages] Ouch!!

Cloe:
Lex? Are you hitting on me?

Lex:
What??

Cloe:
I reckon you'll be fine now. ... Just in case you were, thanks for noticing but, no thanks!

Salene:
Ellie, Jack! I'm thinking of having a little ceremony to remember our friends. What do you think?

Ellie:
What sort of ceremony? What are you saying, that we're never gonna see them again?

Salene:
No, that's not what I meant..

Ellie:
Because, you may have given up hopes Salene but I haven't. I know that Alice and Luke and the rest of them are alive out there somewhere and I'm not going through some kind of burial ceremony!!

Jack:
If I can break the code, or bypass it, or something, then I might be able to listen in on the Technos communications.

Ellie:
It's not dangerous or anything? I mean, you don't know what you're doing?

Jack:
Right now? Huh. Hum yeah, yeah. I don't have a clue.

Ram:
Ved? You mess around with my stuff again and I'll have you stripped and dumped in the City. Maybe even delete you. Hear me? [he leaves]

Jay:
Is that who you really wanna be like?

Ved:
Well I sure don't wanna be like you!

Lex:
Get us a drink Cloe would you?

Cloe:
Get it yourself!!

Jack:
Hey don't worry! Look I'm not gonna, you know, go do anything stupid. It's just a little scouting trip. Besides, I'll have Ebony to look after me.

Ellie:
Pride says they've got cameras all around the perimeter.

Jack:
You know, I'll bring back a photo of me. [laughs]

Ellie:
Jack!

Jack:
Look, Ellie, I'll avoid the cameras and I promise you, I told you, I'm here for you. [grabs a whistle] Here, take it.

Ellie:
What is it?

Jack:
It's my lucky whistle. If you ever need help, you just whistle, see? Well, I'd better be going. See you. [they kiss] I'll see you Ellie.

Ellie:
Take care Jack.

Salene:
[performing the ceremony] I guess we've always relied on Tai-San to do this sort of thing. But she isn't home with us right now. There are a lot of people who aren't here. People we care about and hope to see again soon. This is for them. I know sometimes this world seems just too tough and you wanna give up. But if we do that we're giving up on our friends. We're all they've got. Us and our hope. May we all see our friends again.
